Poor service , late , lack of communication, lot of Malta not worth seeing - Two main problems here , several companies operate , all buses look the same , so it’s difficult for tourist to get on correct bus . Secondly buses aren’t punctual so if you’re on a tight schedule (ie cruise ship passengers) you need to leave a buffer of at least an hour for return journey. We took blue (north tour) , fairly uninspiring EXCEPT the MDINA which was fabulous. Section round St Paul’s bay was dirty , literally a building site .Valletta was lovely , didn’t do red (south tour) so can’t comment on that. Our experience was our bus was 40 mins late , had to find another way back to boat as time was critical. Ticket staff were unhelpful once had your money Driver drove poorly

Malta sightseeing hop/on bus tour - We don't recommend the 1 day hop on/off sightseeing tours. Lots of reasons: over priced as the same trips can be completed with a 4 day public bus card for the same price. The normal buses are frequent and reliable whereas the hop on/ off they didn't stick to the timetable, long delays between pick ups and overcrowded buses meant standing a lot of the way preventing us listening to the commentary. Different drivers took different routes, didn't stick with timetable. Warning: keep your receipts as they constantly queried if we'd paid, quite annoying and embarrassing!

Late buses and poor information - I took the 3 hop on / hop off routes. They give you earphones, but not all the seats had the information recordings working. The south tour on Tuesday 03/09 was well organized, buses were on time in general. The north tour on Wednesday 04/09 was always late. In fact, from what I noticed, if you're interested in the archaeological or historic places where most of the people don't go, be careful because the bus sometimes takes a shortcut avoiding these points. This happened to me at Mgarr church, the bus at 13:45 never appeared and I had to call the office to tell them I was waiting at the bus stop, so I was finally able to take the 14:45 bus.The Gozo tour on Thursday 05/09 had a very confusing logistics to take people to the neighboring island. There was nobody waiting at either side port (as the City sightseeing company had, for example) so you just looked for information by yourself. As the bus was also late, instead of crossing to Mgarr with the ferry and look for the van that was supposed to take you to your hotel, I found a better way to return to Valletta taking the ship to Upper Barrakka gardens, because anyway you had to pay the returning ship ticket, and walking to my hotel.

No comment that’s worth putting on paper. - Con job from start to finish! One to avoid! The touts at the harbour tell you it is a two hour tour, it changes to an hour and a half when you eventually find the shoddy bus! We were assured by the tout that this was the “ Red Hop on, hop off bus”, it’s not, it’s a separate business altogether. Route is very poor and you see little but houses! Would I use them again? No

Awful - As we were staying in Mellieah, off the HoHo route we had to get a pick up to the first point. Driver had no earphones for the audio. Traffic during the day was awful, we only had time for one stop off at Mosta church. 40 mins late picking us back up. After Mdina the bus went to Valletta, not back to our pick point in Bugibba as per the schedule. The unhelpful guide said to get another bus and go round for another two hours; that meant we’d be too late for our pick up back to Mellieah and we’d already been on the bus over five hours by now. We ended up catching a local bus from Valletta. Having done HoHo in Edinburgh, London, New York, Barcelona, Budapest, many others; this was by far the worst.

Total wate of money - Do not waste your money on this. It was overfull and couldnt cope with the tourists. It only runs once an hour, which means, even if it were on time, which it generally isn't, you cant use it as a normal Hop on/off. When we went on it, there were no headphones given. The bus races around on main roads, where you dont have any opportunity to see the island. When you do eventually get to somewhere you want to visit, you have at least another hour to wait until another (full) bus turns up. Use the local buses, which cost 2,50 per journey and you can go where you want, when you want.

Worst HoHo Bus tour - When we got off our cruise ship we were bomb barded with guys selling Hoho bus trips. We were told there were 3 lines and you could swap from one to the other. We purchased a ticket for E20pp. There were 3 ships in port that day and we had to fight our way, half on the road and half on the footpath, uphill for about 1/2 km to get in the bus queue and hopped on the first one we could. There was no cover on the upper deck and the temperature was 34 degrees. Halfway around and in the middle of nowhere we were told we had to get off and wait 30mins for another bus . We managed to get on the yellow route which took us back to the beginning and we did get to see the coast which is where our blue line was going. There was virtually no commentary, no maps and if there was commentary it didn’t work. We usually use the Hoho busses in new places but this was by far the worst we have experienced. We ended up getting a taxi to take us around the coast in the afternoon.

Terrible service - Don't worry about picking up timetable, as they don't stick to it. Most of the commentory ports on board don't work. The queue at Mdina is huge, been waiting 45 mins so far. Hardly hop on hop off.

Nightmare trip - All went well till we got to Mdina but trying to get a bus from there was impossible. Buses from different companies vying for space, no one from any company present to assist customers. Eventually gave up as nowhere to wait in heat and shared a taxi back to Valletta with another couple . Didn’t get to see rest of tour, our choice but who knows how long we would have waited? Have done many hoponhopoff tours around the world - this is the worst!

Do not bother with this, Huge mistake! - I wish I had read the reviews! This company was so disorganized! I waited for someone to show up and when they did they were not helpful and never explained where earlier bus was. Obviously, like many people, I thought this would be a good way to see the island. Wrong! It was chaotic, there were water bottles rolling on the floor with no trash can in sight, and no air conditioning. Not all the channels worked for the audio tour so that was a no go! I would suggest a car and driver or take a taxi to the Medina , that was charming. However, getting off the bus and then trying to get back on at the Medina location was complicated, and made unsafe, by many busses, traffic and the horse carts.
