Wonderful opportunity - Carl and Macy were fabulous! The water was “lumpy” that day and Carl manoeuvred the boat to avoid as many of the waves as possible. Once we got to the whales, they were just as excited as the guests were. It is near the end of the season but we still saw 4 whales. Macy was informative about the whales in the area and the behaviors we were seeing. We also saw sea lions and eagles. They tried to find some bears on shore but we didn’t have luck with that. It was well worth the time and money to go on this excursion. We can’t wait to do it again in the future! *We booked this on our own and not through the cruise line. The instructions to find the excursion were easy to follow and we had no issues at all.

There she Blows! - Great experience, even though it was end of the season, we saw whales! Captain went out of his way to try and find other animals to see. We did see eagles, seals, and sea otters. He also ran the coastline to try to spot a bear. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Remember to dress in layers!

Little crowded but worth it. - We saw seals, Otters, humpback whales, and Orcas. The trip was wonderful. Only negative was it did feel crowded on the boat. They said they were licensed for even more than what we had on the boat, but never went to full capacity. However, we were cramped shoulder to shoulder. It was raining. We did get a bit wet when we open the windows and doors to go out to see the whales. Overall, the trip was dry and enjoyable.

Whales, whales and more whales! - It was amazing! The tour exceeded out expectations! The captain and Macy were awesome. They provided great information and the captain made sure we saw as much as possible and stayed in one area so everyone could see and take pictures.

Great Experience! - I really enjoyed this excursion! The boat was perfect for whale watching - loved that the whole side of the boat could open up and we could have clear views while still being sheltered. Macy was an excellent and very knowledgeable tour guide and I enjoyed learning about the whales from her. We got to see humpbacks, orcas and seals. The orcas swam right up to the boat and that was such a neat experience. My only complaint was that the one sea lion and one otter we saw, we only saw in passing while speeding back to the dock at 2:30. I would have preferred to spend some time looking at them instead of having the boat stand still for what I think was around 10 minutes (when there were no whales around) and have the captain explain Tlingit culture to us. While that is interesting, I paid to see wildlife…

Awesome whale watching experience even in difficult weather. - Your Captain and Tour Guide are very knowledgeable and pleasant. We actually were running late because we had a large party. None the less, contact was made and they guided us to get to them as quickly as possible. We definitely saw whales! And sea lions. We learned a lot and could ask anything we wanted! It was very cold! Be prepared.

Fantastic Whale Tour! - What a great tour! Our captain and guide took us to multiple locations to see the whales, and we saw many. Our guide explained their behaviors and what we were seeing. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. Our captain was very skilled and did a great job keeping everyone comfortable in choppy water. I highly recommend this tour!

Icy Strait Whale Adventures - must do!!! - Right from making the booking, the team at Icy Strait Whale Adventures were great to deal with. Fantastic whale watching experience. Our guide & skipper were extremely engaging. They both gave us a detailed talk on the whales, their habits & the local area. Small vessel with windows that open creating uninterrupted views. Highly recommend this excursion.

Wish we had seen more - Only saw a couple of humpback whales and they were so far away, I barely see them in my pics. After the disappointment of not seeing much in the name of humpback whales, we luckily saw a pod of sea lions having fun. The captain did take us to hopefully see some orcas in a certain area, we fortunately lucked up. The captain always kept his distance, but extreme distance. I really did my homework on what port to see these majestic creatures in, we were just bummed we didnt really see the humpbacks. The orcas were a bonus. Make sure to have the crab seafood bloody Mary and take tours in the afternoon to let Fog burn off. Lucky for us we saw 4 pods of whales on our first sea day of cruise. Can't figure out how to download video or you'd see close up of sea lions frolicking.
