Amazing Value and Well Done Cruise - Amazing value. The crew and staff was exceptional and friendly. They kept picking up after our infant who kept throwing food and utensils to the floor from his high chair. The boat itself is renovated with timeless decor. The bus pick up and drop off was great.

Very nice event - Very well and tightly organized tour over exactly 23 hours. Good excursions, ship is absolutely ok, crew extraordinarily friendly, in this form Halong Bay is a real event

Enjoy the bay from the boat. - A 2 day stay on this boat in the Halong bay was a quiet affair. The boat was fully equipped with the necessary amenities. Perhaps a tip for this airline is to refresh the cabins in a fresh vibrant color, now everything brown. The restaurant offers very good meals, service by the staff is excellent. On the upper deck you can enjoy the beautiful locations.

A decent deal - The cruise company that we ended up going with was the only one left, maybe not the best of signal but the deal turned out fine, pick-up and drop-off at our Ha Noi hotel and all. It seems though that the company has several boats - the cabin pictures on TripAdvisor do not show what we were given. Not as spacious for sure but sufficient all the same (own bathroom, shower, small balcony). The rooms could use some attention to details. Turns curtains are not a recommendation. There was plenty of good food available (from the lunch on arrival, to the set menu dinner - which was excellent--, to the light brekkie and brunch the next morning.) Several other activities were also available - from kayaking around the Halong pearl farm, hiking the Sung Sot cave, exploring Ti-Top island for hiking to the top or swimming, to making Vietnam spring rolls (cooking demonstration), squid fishing, early-morning tai chi lessons. We did not do the cave which might have been a mistake. Wifi worked halfway well only in the wee hours. The boat we travelled on had 20 cabins and overall there were about 40 fellow travellers from all other world (including Italian couples/families, a group of 11 Malaysian women, a couple of Indian families, one of them with a young child and from Sydney, and a couple of Austrians.) The customer-facing cruise crew was about 8–9 young folks, all speaking English reasonably well, and unfailingly attentive. All the food stuff was included in the bill except for drinks. Not surprisingly, given the captive audience, prices for drinks were … on the high side - comparable to a decent Sydney restaurant that does not allow byo. (Anticipating this, we brought a bottle of wine which turned out to be a good idea.) I doubt the wisdom of having customers pay for drinks such as coffee and tea during brunch. Can't add to these customers' willingness to leave a tip. (Envelopes for tips were prominently, albeit discreetly, placed on the brunch tables, together with a satisfaction survey.) I did leave a substantial tip because the cruise crew was really working had and did so consistently and in a cheerful manner. Can't take that for granted since we left the boat a few minutes before 11 am, with the next tour scheduled to arrive an hour later. The tour cost slightly above 500 AU dollars (for two), not counting the drinks bill, and overall that seems a decent deal that I can recommend.

Great Boat, Staff, Food! Just Check What You Get! - This tour was a tour of 2 halves. The tour was amazing, MilaLux is a great boat, the food was incredible and the staff are really good at what they do, especially the two boatman who ferry you to the islands. What delightful gentlemen! The girls in the restaurants were incredibly courteous too. BUT... I booked this tour/ company/boat because on this site it shows a lovely looking big room with sun loungers on the balcony on the picture. These are at the front of the boat. YOU DONT GET THAT. We were given a small, but completely functional room at the bottom at the back. Cannot fault the room, but it's not the one on the picture, which I felt a bit deceived about. All rooms have a small balcony anyway, but that's besides the point. Also, check out is at 9.30am, which is fine. We had breakfast and took some pictures on the deck, then went down to get our belongings at 9.10am. Our room door was WIDE OPEN with nobody to be seen. A complete violation of privacy. I understand they need to clean, but surely when you have handed your key back, you've checked out, and therefore they are free to enter. Not while we are still using it! This ruined the whole experience for me, as ended up feeling angry on a trip which was great.

Good, nice experience, very touristy and very busy. - Traditional boat in the Halong Bay. Old but good. Beds are good. Bathroom small but fine. Nice little balcony. Care and staff good. You'll be well looked after.

Might be a must have but I'd definitely not do it again - The whole thing is overly touristic and quite the disappointment. Day 1: we were brought to a souvenir shop where we were left 30 minutes. Coffee was expensive, the same souvenirs as everywhere else were about 4 times the price. Arriving at the harbor we had to wait 45 minutes; no distraction or even drinks available. Lunch was good, though, some nice seafood which turned out best of the whole trip. The kayaking is about 30 minutes, the cave a complete disaster. 30 minutes for the 150 steps up to the cave as the queue wasn't moving - people who just had waited themselves thought it was a good idea to take pictures at the entrance all the way up. Everything felt rushed the whole day, come here, look there, go on and now relax as we're off to the next thing in 20 minutes, go go go! Day 2: Same on the little island as with the cave, all tourists standing on each others feet going all the way up, no movement. At the "beach" - about 100 m of sand - there were oil-spots which later were removed by hand by some workers. Just so you know which water you'll bathe in. After that we had to leave the rooms (bags left at the reception) followed by a really bland brunch. Back to the harbor at around 10:30 (so the 2 days are more like one) and... 90 minutes waiting in the same room as the day before. General: I think prices were extreme on the boat. Nearly 8 USD for a small glass of rather poor wine, 3 USD for a can of the cheap Saigon beer (regularly 1 USD in Hanoi restaurants); that's just milking it after taking 200 USD/person for this trip. Rooms were clean, nothing bad to say about them. Not only being handed a survey before brunch but being pushed to answering it was another disappointment. Conclusion: would not do this again; it was all too much rush and all too little fun. Halong Bay is completely overrun which is not the company's fault but the other points remain. I know this trip is a must for every Vietnam-tourist and I thought this could be the highlight of our vacation but is was completely disappointing and in hindsight I would not miss anything about it. No one reading this will decide not to go but I'm sure some will agree with this opinion afterwards.

Company oversold and canceled our reservation last minute - Do not book with this company. We made our reservation one month prior, and received a message the night before that the tour company ‘oversold the experience and canceled’ our reservation. At that point, our options were extremely limited to rebook, and much more expensive.
