So disappointing! - This tour was really disappointing. The tour guide was friendly and nice but there was so much that went wrong that we can't avoid to rate this as terrible. 1) First of all, instead of going to the harbour to catch the cruise we are dropped at a souvenir shop to spend there 30 min because "the boat didn't arrive yet". We took 2:30 from Hanoi to Halong Bay, how is the boat not there on time? As this wasn't enough we got in the boat and still had to wait a long time for another group to come so that the boat could leave. Very disorganised. 2) The food was very average. A lot of fried food and very cheap looking. We paid 120 dollars for this, we were expecting more. The afternoon snack was kids cookies. A complete joke. 3) This has to be the worst part. The staff of the boat CONSTANTLY trying to sell you souvenirs, pearls and other rubbish stuff. So annoying, so upsetting. We didn't felt relaxed at all. 4) We had included 30 min of kayak. We arrived there and there not enough kayaks for everyone and also very short staff to help people get in the kayak. Result: we only had 15 min on the kayak because they still asked to get back at the initial time stipulated, even with the delay. 5) On both ways of the bus ride, we stopped for toilet in a huge souvenir shop. Nothing wrong with this if it wasn't by the constant pressure to use the tag identifying our tour when we purchased something. Was there a comission involved maybe? It made us extremely uncomfortable. 6) As all of this wasn't enough, we were sad with the experience but still tried to see the best of it, when we got out of the bus, we were pressured by the tour to give a tip to the driver. Again, we paid 120 dollars for this tour. Wasn't this supposed to be included? We gave a small tip and the tour guide only said "Oh" clearly disappointed by the amount and didn't even say goodbye or thank you. Don't waste your money on this tour, its simply not worth it.

Profit focused cruise without care for the guests - We had this day cruise today and i can say that it’s the worst tour i’ve been in my life. The food at the buffet looked good but it was lacking flavour. Most of it was boiled and without salt or herbs/spices. They only let us go on the deck for like 15’ and every time we had to dock or depart they asked us to go back down inside and wait until the procedure is done. I saw other boats though with people free to relax on the deck while we went up and down between every stop. The staff every time we went inside came to sell us things. Also the sunset snack was the same tasteless fruits we had at lunch and no cake, just biscuits in small packages like the fortune cookies. The stops we made were packed with people (Surprise cave, Luon cave and Titop island) so you cannot enjoy. Half an hour queued in line to climb the steps to the caves and they were telling us to keep moving so we go fast back on the boat. Same with kayaking and the rafts. They were bumping into each other in a sea full of trash. At lunch buffet we saw also peanuts served in a bowl. We don’t eat whole peanuts with our food, so later when we ordered beers we asked them if we could have some. They said no, only at lunch. Just before we arrived back at the port they gave everyone a complimentary paper bag with a ban of bread inside. What to do with the bread before i leave the boat? We paid 50$ to not relax a bit under the sun, pay double price for a beer but be denied peanuts and get a bread as a gift?! It’s a shame because Halong Bay is a beautiful place but unfortunately we are seen only as sheep ready to be milked for money. Vietnamese people are lovely people and i love this country, that’s why i came again after six years. I have to be honest though, this was underestimating and insulting. Anyone can be a tourist, don’t treat customers as lower beings. We visited amazing caves in Phong Nha and Ninh Binh and before that some blue turquoise lagoons in the Philippines. I hope i will keep these memories.
