Upon arrival in Dong Van, guests can check in and have dinner.
Dong Van – Lung Cu Flag Pole – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac (B, L, D)
Lung Cu Flag Tower - The Lung Cu flagpole marks Vietnam’s northernmost point, bordering China. On a clear day, the view extends 3 km into China. Situated in Dong Van district, about 450 km from Hanoi, the flag tower is perched atop the 300m high Dragon Mountain. Arriving just before 5 PM, visitors are often advised against taking the stairs from the base. Instead, the bus drops them off higher up, near shops, with some stair climbing required to reach the tower. The climb is manageable.
The cool, windy conditions at the tower’s base offer breathtaking 360° views of rice terraces, valleys, mountains, and China to the north. The tower itself is not very tall, but the scenery is spectacular. Truly amazing!
At the tower, visitors ascend another 200 steps to a small circular platform crowded with local tourists. After capturing a quick photo with the large Vietnamese flag waving above, they descend.
The Lung Cu flagpole is a fascinating stop along the Ha Giang / Dong Van loop, requiring only 30 minutes to an hour.
Ma Pi Leng Pass - Northern Vietnam is truly beautiful, renowned for its mountainous regions, passes, terraced fields, and waterfalls. The North boasts four top passes: Ma Pi Leng (Ha Giang), Khau Pha (Yen Bai), O Quy Ho (Lao Cai), and Pha Din (Dien Bien), each a must-visit at least once in a lifetime. Ma Pi Leng Pass is considered the best, offering incredible views.
Meo Vac – Yen Minh – Lung Khuy Cave – Ha Giang: (B, L)
Meo Vac - Meo Vac is a quaint yet charming district capital surrounded by steep karst mountains. Like many towns in the northwest, it is gradually being settled by Vietnamese from other regions. The journey along the stunning Mai Pi Leng Pass, which stretches 22 km from Dong Van, is the main highlight. The road is carved into the side of a cliff, offering views of rolling hills cascading down to the distant waters of the Nho Que River below. At the top of the pass, there is a lookout point where visitors can pause to admire the scenery.
