Additional Information

A community of natives has lived around Lake Titicaca since pre-Inca times and refer to themselves as the “children of the lake.” They construct their homes, boats, and furniture from reeds (totora). Their island homes are equipped with solar-powered electricity. Visitors are warmly welcomed and can stay with the natives, enjoying boating, fishing, and traditional food amidst a stunning landscape. At night, you can gaze at a sky full of stars. You’ll also have the opportunity to engage in manual labor with the natives, such as cutting reeds and knitting with the women. Experience the unique hospitality of these families by spending a night on their floating island.
