This is where he self-immolated in 1963, protesting the persecution of Buddhism by the South Vietnamese government. The monument honors his sacrifice and serves as a powerful reminder of his commitment to religious freedom. The serene setting invites reflection and provides a meaningful glimpse into Vietnam’s complex history.
- Ho Thi Ky Flower Market - This bustling market is renowned for its variety of flowers, sourced from across Vietnam. It’s a feast for the senses with vibrant colors and sweet fragrances. - Ba Thien Hau Temple - We will visit the captivating Thien Hau Pagoda, also known as the Mother of Sea. Built by the Chinese in 1760, this historic site is a testament to the rich cultural heritage brought to Vietnam. Crafted with materials imported by boat from China, the pagoda showcases intricate architectural details that reflect traditional Chinese artistry. Nestled in the heart of District 5’s Chinatown, it holds a special place in the community, revered by locals for its spiritual significance. As you explore, you’ll be enchanted by the serene atmosphere, vibrant incense, and the timeless beauty of this sacred space.
- District 4 - Next, we head to District 4 to visit the vibrant floating market, where people live and work on their boats. It’s a unique experience, immersing you in the daily lives of the local community as they trade goods on the water. On our way back to the hotels, we’ll explore a bustling culinary alley, renowned for its diverse range of Vietnamese street food. This lively spot is a melting pot of flavors, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of migrants who have made this area their home. It’s a feast for the senses and a perfect end to our adventure.
- 287/70 Nguyễn Đình Chiểu - Beneath the house at 287/70 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City there is a secret basement. This place once hid more than 2 tons of weapons of the Saigon Rangers during the war against America to save the country, especially during the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of Mau Than (1968). Amazing streetfood trip with safe motorbike driver. - My tour guide Red was the best! I've learned so much from him about history, culture, religion etc. He was so knowledgeable. His English is amazing. I was a bit nervous about the scooter but Red is a very safe driver. We saw a big variety of places and tasted delicious food and drinks. Highly recommend this trip and this guide.
