- Hisor Fortress - The city tour begins with a visit to Hisor Fortress, a key historical landmark of the nation, located about a 30-minute drive from the city. Constructed approximately 3000 years ago during the peak of the Great Silk Road, the Hisor Fortress stands as one of Central Asia’s oldest and largest architectural marvels. Today, it serves as an open-air museum spanning 86 hectares on the site of an ancient settlement, situated 30 km from Tajikistan’s capital. Historically, the fortress was the residence of the Emir of Bukhara’s governor. Presently, only two cylindrical towers and the structures surrounding the main gate, forming a pointed arch, remain, built under the emir’s orders in the 16th century.
- National Museum of Antiquities - The museum proudly showcases artifacts from the Eneolithic and Bronze Age, originating from the agricultural settlement of Sarazm, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Unique finds from the Hellenistic period, excavated from the Oxus Temple at Takht-i Sangin on the Amu Darya River, are also featured. The museum’s highlight is the “Buddha in Nirvana,” an almost 13-meter clay statue, recognized as one of the largest ancient Buddhist monuments globally.
- Mehrgon Market - Following the visit to Mehrgon Bazar, explore Mehrgon, a modern food market in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, which opened in September 2014. The market covers a total area of approximately 30,000 square meters.
- Statue of Ismoil Somoni - Proceed to Dusti Square, located in the heart of Dushanbe and all of Tajikistan. Known as “Friendship Square,” locals refer to it as the “Monument of Ismail Somoni” or “Park Somoni” due to the monument dedicated to Ismail Somoni, the founder of the Tajik state. The 13-meter high Ismail Somoni Monument is the centerpiece of Dusti Square, topped by a stunning arch over 43 meters high.
