- Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve - The next destination is the awe-inspiring Corrieshalloch Gorge. This is one of Britain’s most remarkable gorges, showcasing the dramatic impact of glacial meltwater in forming deep gorges. A short, steep walk takes visitors to a Victorian suspension bridge, providing a view of a series of cascading waterfalls.
- Ullapool - Following that is the charming fishing town of Ullapool, situated on the shores of Lochbroom. Visitors can explore Ullapool’s charming streets, observe the boats, and enjoy a leisurely lunch to recharge for the remainder of the tour.
- Knockan Crag National Nature Reserve - Post-lunch, the tour heads north to the geological visitor site of Knockan Crag! This low cliff reveals rocks that revolutionized the scientific community in the 19th century. Known as the Moine Thrust, it was formed by the collision of two continents millions of years ago! Time will be spent here delving into geological history, exploring the trails, and appreciating the breathtaking scenery.
- Ardvreck Castle - The tour then proceeds to the ruins of Ardvreck Castle. The ruins rise on a rocky promontory in Loch Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland, UK. Dating back to around 1490, the structure is linked to the Macleods of Assynt, the landowners at the time. Approximately 30 minutes will be spent exploring the small ruin and visiting nearby waterfalls.
