Isle of Skye - Tour of Dreams Day 1

Inverness - Our epic two day adventure begins in Inverness, capital of the Scottish Highlands. As we head out of the city, I will immerse you in local folklore, suggest other places to visit during your stay and make suggestions about where you can discover the very best food, drink and entertainment that Inverness has to offer.

Loch Ness Region - First we are off to Loch Ness and to meet the hairy cows … not only will you get to meet and photograph them. I will also enhance the experience by bringing carrots so you can feed them. A unique bucket list experience for many people.

You will hear all the stories of the worlds most famous Loch and see the scenery change dramatically as we head out to Skye.

Glenmoriston - We then head out west through spectacular glens, historical battlefields and ancient crofting communities, where I will weave fascinating stories and personally curated historical narratives into the fabric of your journey that help your understand the rich cultural heritage that saturates every corner of this land.

I have also put together a soundtrack for this tour that helps you form an ethereal connection between the music and the landscape.

There are further spectacular photo opportunities alongside Loch Cluanie, I will also take you to a place where if we are lucky we will hopefully get to photograph some wild deer.

Chocolates of Glenshiel - We will stop for a short coffee break around 1100 at an award winning chocolatier, you can even watch the chocolate being made on certain days through a viewing window.

Skye Ferry - Afterwards its time to head off the beaten track on a non tourist route to get photos from spectacular elevated views as we travel through the wilderness to experience one of the most unique aspects of our adventure, sailing ‘over the sea to Skye’ on the worlds only working turntable ferry. It’s a 5 minute crossing and can only hold twelve people, but what makes it extra special is that all the other tour operators use the Skye Bridge (because its quick and easy), however I wanted to include something magical that was a little more romantic, plus you get to see a remote part of Skye in the process.

Kylerhea - There is also a seal colony nearby, sometimes up to 300 seals can be spotted here at any one time.

Portree Harbour - Next we arrive at the quaint capital of the island, here you can enjoy your lunch and grab some photos of the picturesque harbour with its pastel coloured houses. Always a pretty picture to be had here come rain or shine and sometimes snow.

Sligachan Old Bridge - Sligachan Old Bridge is the first of Skye’s many otherworldly locations, you will also get the opportunity here to immerse yourself in a famous fairy legend. Sligachan is also the location for my trademark bridge drone photo, examples can be seen on my instagram page.

Neist Point - Hike 1 - Rated: Easy to Moderate.

Day 1 ends with one of my favourite hikes as we head out to the most westerly point of the Isle of Skye where the road can go no further, Neist Point.

It’s dubbed “the end of the world” and the scenic hike around the jagged precipitous clifftops and then down to the lighthouse passes by some extraordinary landscape offering great exploring opportunities as the landscape your always dreamt of seeing reveals itself, its a jaw dropping location.

There are also plenty of curious friendly wild sheep here and during the summer months whales, dolphins and basking shark can all be spotted. It is often wild and windy at Neist Point, but that just adds to the atmosphere of this desolate place and even on a misty dull day, the white lighthouse cuts an eerie figure through the haze as sea birds soar from the cliffs beside it.

Isle of Skye - Tour of Dreams Day 2

The Old Man of Storr - Hike 2 - Rated: Easy to Moderate.

Day 2 begins with a hike to the Old Man of Storr, located on the Trotternish Peninsula. This iconic towering landmark on the Isle of Skye is a spectacular 160 ft volcanic plug left behind after massive landslides swept the rest of the hillside away. It’s a steady climb and the rewards are magnificent.

The Old Man of Storr is just one element in an array of fantastic geological features that we will see today set between the Trotternish Ridge and the sea. Awe inspiring and much photographed, you will without doubt feel like you have walked onto the film set of ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

Quiraing - In my opinion the most extraordinary landscape on the Isle of Skye is at the Quiraing (meaning ‘round fold’ in Norse). It’s formed by giant landslides that left behind a strange landscape of rocky shapes, undulating cone shaped grassy slopes and contorted pillars of eroded lava that fell off the mountainside to create an otherworldly scene of pinnacles, ridges and cliffs.

Weather permitting we will hike to a place called The Prison (the cover photo for this tour), its a large rocky pyramid that when looked at from the right angle, looks like a medieval keep.

The photographs I will help you achieve here will be some of the most remarkable you will take home with you, examples can be seen on my instagram.

Kilt Rock - Theres time for a short photo stop at Kilt Rock and its famous waterfall that drops 90 metres down to the beach, then we will pass back alongside the Old Man of Storr that we conquered at the start of the day as we make our way to our next hike.

Fairy Pools - Hike 3 - Rated: Easy to Moderate.

After a hike out to the foot of the Black Cuillins near Glenbrittle, the adventurers among us can take a dip in the crystal-clear cascading rock pools. It’s a beautiful location on Skye even if the skies are grey and mysterious, plus there are also plenty of scenic paths through countryside that are home to red deer, rabbits, and sheep.

The pools are home to many myths and legends, some even have natural arches to swim under the water. I will even immerse you in playlist of fairy music as our journey approaches this magical place !

I will also take you to the location to achieve the image you see in the photos standing over the iconic fairy pool with the triangular piece of rock in the background.

Sligachan - As we travel back from the Fairy Pools to Broadford, there’s even time for some interesting trivia where the winner can earn a unique prize exclusive to this tour.

Broadford - There’s an opportunity to sample a famous old drink here, grab tea and coffee or browse the gift shop.

Eilean Donan Castle - After an epic 2 days that includes 3 incredible hikes combined with the very best of the Isle Skye, our adventure ends with a quiz and a visit to Eilean Donan Castle.

You will AVOID THE QUEUES here thanks to pre paid access.

Inverness - The music is sure to sound even better after that dram as we return to Inverness with former Ibiza DJ Luke’s ‘on board disco’.

You choose the music for the return journey and there’s several opportunities for photo stops and toilet breaks on the way back if required.

Note: The remaining time is for the round tour and time spent sightseeing or explorations.

We usually return to Inverness sometime between 7-8pm.

Luke...the amazing...Skye Walker - Had two fantastic days with Luke, who is knowledgeable, funny, informative, caring and enthusiastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Skye, despite some wild and crazy weather. Luke adjusted the tour to try to catch the best of the bad weather which still made it a memorable experience, with photo and comfort stops, as requested. He obviously loves the isle. Highly recommend any tour with Luke for a life long memory.

Walker of Skye - Luke Skye-Walker - Luke Skye-Walker was a phenomenal, easy-going, and knowledgeable guide for our trip over Sea to Skye today. He had some great insights, was engaging with the other passengers, and brought us to some fantastic spots for photos and experiences. The areas he picked out for us to strike off and hike for a bit were SPECTACULAR. As you can imagine, Scotland is a place where you cannot set out find a poor view or take a bad picture, but Luke was able to direct us to little spots along the way that truly amplified the effect the region has on a person. 11/10, incredibly existential and eye-opening - would tour again!
