• Dochgarroch - A favored spot for boaters, locals, and tourists alike, Dochgarroch is a stunning and bustling hub where the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal converge and flow into the Head of Loch Ness. Visitors can spot our famous Highland Cows here before heading up the loch to Urquhart Castle.
• Urquhart Castle - The current ruins date from the 13th to the 16th centuries, built on the site of an earlier medieval fortification. Established in the 13th century, Urquhart played a significant role in the Scottish independence wars during the 14th century. It later served as a royal castle and was frequently raided by the MacDonald Clan. In 1509, the castle was granted to the Clan Grant, though conflicts with the MacDonalds persisted. Despite further raids, the castle was fortified but largely abandoned by the mid-17th century. In 1692, Urquhart was partially destroyed to prevent its use by Jacobite forces and subsequently fell into decay. Perched on a headland overlooking Loch Ness, it is one of Scotland’s largest castles by area.
• Drumnadrochit - This village on the shores of Loch Ness is famously known as the home of the Loch Ness Monster. Drumnadrochit is filled with novelty shops offering Scottish clan items and other traditional Scottish goods.

• Fort Augustus - Following the Jacobite rising in 1715, General Wade constructed a fort (from 1729 to 1742) named after the Duke of Cumberland. Wade intended to build a town around the new barracks, calling it Wadesburgh. The settlement grew and eventually adopted the fort’s name. Located at the end of Loch Ness on the Great Glen Fault, it is a picturesque location with its upper canal locks. Visitors can enjoy lunch and the serene scenery on their Loch Ness journey.
• General Wade’s Military Roads - A viewpoint stop on the trip offers a breathtaking view of miles of rugged Highland terrain and multiple lochs from General Wade’s Military Road. The sight in person is more stunning than any person or camera can capture.
• The Falls of Foyers - The Falls of Foyers are two waterfalls on the River Foyers, which feeds Loch Ness. Located on the lower portion of the River Foyers, they consist of the upper falls, with a 46-foot drop, and the lower falls, which drop 98 feet. Surrounded by woodlands and wildlife, visitors can truly enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature. Reaching the falls involves a steady staircase down the hill, but the nature reserve can be admired from the top just off the road.
