To begin, you’ll have the opportunity to savor our herbal tea while listening to an expert discuss the heritage and cultural significance of Hoi An Lanterns….
Our Lanterns are crafted from silk and bamboo, available in a variety of forms including lotus, diamond, sunrise, and sunset.
The comprehensive 11-step process to create your own lantern is as follows:
Step 1: Fasten 12 bamboo rods using wire thread
Step 2 and 3: Mold the rods into either a sunrise (inverted triangle) or sunset (triangle) shape
Step 4: Place the bamboo rods onto a hanger and fix them in place with thread
Step 5: Choose your preferred silk and hue
Step 6: Apply adhesive and wait for it to set
Step 7: Position the silk and stretch it to envelop the rods
Step 8: Encase the sides completely with silk
Step 9: Adorn the top and bottom of the hanger with silk strips
Step 10: Pick out a tassel for the base of the lantern
Step 11: Complete! You can collapse your lantern and pack it in your luggage to take home
Additionally, the expert will craft an extra lantern for you as a unique token of appreciation at the conclusion of the workshop.

Latern making - Excellent experience for all ages and levels of ability!
The teachers are relaxed make the whole two hours a really fun experience- we laughed so much!

AMAZING!! DO IT !! - Literally the best activity I did in Vietnam in my whole 2 weeks. There were all involved and always ready to help you. They were super funny and nice and I found it made the activity even better. We were 5 and at one point other people started showing up and they were still able to help us. It does take 2 hours to do the full lanterne BUT I PROMISE YOU it’s so so so worth it. If I could I would go back and do it again because they were just fun people to be around. I LOVED MY EXPERIENCE AND MY WHOLE FAMILY DID TOO

We did the long version... - We did the long version where we built the frame and put in the silk, it was done at a good pace and the instructors were fun and helpful. Our lanterns turned out great.

Great way to spend the day and bring home a souvenir - Signed up for this class before I arrived in Vietnam. I did another activity in the morning and then arrived to the class early. The workers were gracious and let me get started on my lantern. They were all hilarious and fun. They were playing music and served tea. I was feeling unwell at the beginning but by the end I felt so much better. I think because of their energy. They helped me through the lantern making process step by step and I walked away with a nice lantern to bring home as well as a lantern to make a wish by the river. A fun, quick activity that I would definitely recommend in Hoi An.

So fun and such a unique experience!! - It was so fun to make your own lantern after learning a bit about the history behind them. You get to customize the shape and the fabrics used, and they are very helpful if you have a difficult time with any of the steps. Highly recommend!

Lantern making in Hoi An - Lantern making class was one of the highlights of our stay in Hoi An. Class is run by a young brother and sister who have so much energy and make the experience fun. Interesting to learn about the history of lanterns over time. Definitely recommend.

100% recommended - We booked the express class but ended up taking the full class and it was the best choice. I recommend it 100%, they help you to make it perfect and guide you in a personalized way throughout the entire process. Len has been the best teacher.

Best Hoi An Souvenir - Entertaining fun-filled lantern-making class. Cost 380,000 VND for full class (2.5 hrs) and 250,000 for express class (1.5 hrs). Full class includes the making of the bamboo frame. Can choose from 4 different shapes. Express class is gluing on the cloth part only. Recommend doing the full class for the complete experience. This place has the largest lantern making workshop in Hoi An with plenty of seating, cloth choices, and attentive teaching. Lantern collapses down for travel. Book direct through their website and pay on arrival (cheaper than Klook). Accepts credit cards. Family-run business with enthusiastic, funny instructors. Fluent in English. Includes free tea. Take a Grab there because it’s not in the old town. Was our favorite activity in Hoi An. Overall highly recommended.
