Comfortable scenic journey to the sand dunes - Our guide Orta and his driver did a fabulous job and provided us with a great experience exploring the Mongolian countryside. We were picked up on time in a very comfortable and clean vehicle. Our guide provided us with some great information about the country and culture and pointed out various things throughout the drive, which made the 4.5+ hours drive each way go by faster. He even taught us some traditional Mongolian games that we played in the car. Orta picked us up some snacks and drinks for the car, and we had a breakfast picnic in a scenic spot as well. At mini gobi, we had a great timing riding camels and getting a glimpse into the nomadic lifestyle and a ger. The drive is definitely part of the journey and incredible scenic and we had a VIP experience! On the way back we stopped for a delicious Mongolian lunch in a clean modern restaurant and had ample opportunities for bathroom breaks, all of which were clean and well maintained. We started at 8am and were back before 730pm. Overall a great way to explore!

Mongolia.... Rural and Majestic. - Excellent opportunity to see countryside out side city. Wide diversity of agriculture Fascinating to see countless herda of free raging horses, cattle, gats and other livestock. Enjoyed my first Camel ride on the semi-Gobi sand dunes.

Amazing day trip to the Semi-Gobi Desert! - Our trip to the Semi-Gobi Desert was absolutely fantastic and one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Mongolia. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully arranged and well executed.
We were picked up on time from our hotel in Ulaanbaatar by our friendly English-speaking guide, Urtaa, and our driver—who deserves special mention for skillfully navigating UB traffic (no small feat!). On the way, we stopped at a store to grab snacks, and during a photo stop to admire the sweeping views, our guide surprised us with coffee and chocolate croissants—a wonderful touch on the four-hour journey.
When we arrived at the desert, a welcoming nomadic family hosted us with genuine hospitality. We rode camels, led by the family’s young son, and even had the chance to herd sheep from camelback—an unforgettable experience. Lunch was served in their ger: traditional mutton dumplings that were flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Two playful kittens peeked out from under the little girl’s bed in the ger, adding to the warmth of the family atmosphere.
On the drive back, our guide shared stories of Mongolian history and culture, played a traditional game using lamb bones with us, and even gifted us Mongolian keychains as keepsakes. The car was air-conditioned (essential in July!), and our guide also took photos of us throughout the day—leaving us with wonderful memories to bring home.
Yes, it’s a long day (around 11 hours), but it’s completely worth it. Between the scenery, cultural insights, and personal touches, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mongolia.

Experience of a lifetime - This was the coolest experience ever. The ride from Ulaanbataar to the desert is a bit long, but worth it for experience. I mean how often do you get to ride a camel in the Gobi desert? So even if it’s a full day of travel for a short time with the camel, it’s still worth the price and the scenery to get there was stunning so it’s all worth it. If you get the chance to go to Mongolia, this is a tour you can’t pass. Plus the food was amazing.

Quiet an Experience - Long day of driving on bumpy roads but there is no other way to get to the South Gobi and it’s part of the experience. Guide was friendly efficient and attentive. If you prefer comfort chose a company with a Land Cruiser!

Semi Gobi - On the way to Semi Gobi you see all the Mongolian Grassland. It is fantastic. The trip is long because of traffic jam in the city centre. But it is worth it.
Thanks
