Highlights
  • Senate Square - Senate Square is our meeting point and is likely the main tourist attraction in the city, marking the beginning of modern Helsinki’s history. Here, we’ll discover the three stunning buildings that surround us!
  • Helsinki Cathedral - Known as the White Cathedral, Helsinki Cathedral is the city’s most iconic landmark, often seen in photographs. We’ll explore the church’s interior to gain insight into Finland’s religious culture. If we’re fortunate, we might also enjoy some music inside. (The church is closed during services, typically on Sunday mornings). During the summer, there’s an 8€ entrance fee, so we’ll admire it from the outside.
  • Kauppatori - The Finnish phrase “Torille” means “to the market”! Let’s visit Market Square to understand its significance. Discover what Finns typically eat and drink, and find unique souvenirs to take home. The Gulf of Finland, with its rich history of battles, offers many tales about Helsinki.

Market Square is situated by the Gulf of Finland, offering views of Suomenlinna Island, a beautiful and highly recommended UNESCO heritage site. We’ll provide guidance on how to visit the island.

  • Allas Sea Pool - We’ll offer a comprehensive guide to the Finnish sauna experience and recommend the best saunas in town. Discover why Finns are so passionate about saunas!
  • Uspenski Cathedral - Why does Helsinki have two cathedrals? This one looks different from Helsinki Cathedral; let’s find out why! We’ll view this stunning cathedral from a distance during our visit to Market Square.
  • Esplanadi - Known locally as Helsinki’s Champs-Élysées, Esplanadi is home to Kappeli restaurant and the Espa music stage. In the center stands a statue of Runeberg, Finland’s national poet. Here, we’ll also share some fun facts about Finland and the Finnish language.
  • Fazer Café Kluuvikatu - Fazer is Helsinki’s first café bar, a popular spot for locals to enjoy a coffee break.
  • Aleksanterinkatu - Known locally as Aleksi, this main street in the city center features many beautiful Art Deco buildings, each with fascinating stories about Finnish culture!
  • Helsinki Central Railway Station - Helsinki’s central train station is a stunning landmark in the city center, guarded by four massive statues with many stories to tell! We’ll also pass by two other beautiful buildings: Finland’s National Theater and the Ateneum Museum (Finland’s National Gallery).
  • Central Library Oodi - Oodi Library is the highlight of the tour, offering a redefined concept of what a library can be. It’s unlike any library you’ve ever seen and is sure to amaze you!
