Interesting, 90 minute tour, history lesson - The Caves of Hella Tour was more an Icelandic origin history lesson than a cave tour. We absolutely loved it. The caves themselves are interesting and their varied use was fascinating. Our tour guide was a fantastic story teller, keeping us engaged the entire time. My husband is a bit claustrophobic, she was accommodating by allowing him to use a separate entrance when there was a small passage way and he was able to participate. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip, making us want to read up more on Icelandic history.

Great tour for history buffs. I loved it lol - I thought this was a great tour for its price. However, I think our guide is what really made the tour what it was. She was passionate and knowledgeable about the information shared and you can tell it’s important to her. I hope to see more uncovered and open to explore and preserved one day when I return. Easy stop on the way to Vik.

Must See - for the story telling and perspective on Icelandic history - plus the cultural tastings. . - The tour offers so much - an interesting (and absolutely necessary) perspective on the Icelandic people and island, a tasting of cultural foods (and so tasty) along with a refreshing drink, and a tour guide who was a spellbinding story teller. We enjoyed our time so much, and honestly, the tour guide made our trip FUN with her timing and mysterious telling of the story of Iceland/Irish origins. We loved it. Ask for a special tasting if you are a big tour group. It was SO WORTH IT! It was one of our groups fav stops - and went far beyond our Reykjavik tour

Fun stop to break up a long drive - We did this on a rainy day and there were about 30 people in total on our tour. Stefan the tour guide has a great way about him and we enjoyed his sense of humor. While I wouldn’t necessarily drive hours out of my way for the tour, if you can fit it into your travels it is well worth the stop. It was a fascinating introduction to the history of the caves in this region of Iceland, as well as the idea of the Irish being here before the Vikings. My family and I all went down a serious google rabbit hole to learn more afterwards!

Fascinating historical site! - I found the tour guide Stefan very knowledgeable, interesting, and had a great sense of humour. He guided us through several caves and provided fascinating history while we explored and wondered about the origins of the caves. I recently visited similar caves in Turkey so I found these immensely intriguing. The tour was well worth the price and a highlight of my trip to Iceland!

Lackluster - It was okay. We were a bit underwhelmed. We got to visit 3 caves and that’s it. If I would have known that it was just going into 3 caves without much to it, I wouldn’t have booked this tour.
