Tour Germany with a World Guide - This was my first time to Germany. I was very interested in seeing some towns, learning background and history. I’m glad that I found Maik! I initially booked a tour of Heidelberg. I worked with him in advance as I had an extra day in Germany. I wanted advice on where to visit and he recommended Rothenburg. I’m glad that I took his advice and booked that tour too. I enjoyed both tours very much! I have traveled a lot and toured many places around the world. I was looking for a local expert and found a world expert! He has been to more places around the world than anyone I have ever met! I learned so much about Germany during both tours and places around the world! I consider Maik more like a friendly companion than a tour guide. We had great discussions on both days that made the travel time to these towns move quickly. I highly recommend Maik if you are looking for someone with a wealth of knowledge, great discussions and memories!

Great day tour - We had an amazing tour in Heidelberg! The Mercedes museum is closed on Tuesdays so we had more time in the villiage and castle, it was magical!

Best part of our trip! A must see and best tour guide!! - Maic (pronounced Mike) picked us up from our hotel in Frankfurt and drove us to Heidelberg. He was friendly, kind and engaging. Once we arrived in Heidelberg, he took us up the furnicular to Schloss Heidelberg, where he toured us around the exterior before turning us over to the castle tour guide for a humorous and insightful view of the inside of the castle and the ruins. The Heidelberg Castle, along the Neckar River, is a must see for centuries of architectural styles and stories of many ruling classes - dating as early as 1225 - and the tragedy of ruins that resulted from the French invasion in the late 17th century. Afterwards, Mike gave a us a walking tour of the town, which is filled with lovely buildings - all built after the invasion in the short span of a decade (!), except the church which was sparred. (It’s Lutheran and much less adorned than the Catholic churches we have seen.) We enjoyed a yummy traditional, German lunch, before departing for a short drive to the next town, Ladenburg, to visit the Automuseum Dr. Carl Benz (the founder of Mercedes Benz) and tour the town center. I especially enjoyed the timber-framed buildings dating from the 1600s! Very traditional German town indeed with very few tourists. we then headed back to Frankfurt and said goodbye to our wonderful tour guide. I would highly recommend this option if you are staying in Frankfurt. It’s a great way to get out of the city and enjoy traditional German culture, food and history.

Beautiful places to see - Mike is very knowledgeable and trio was well organized. However we did feel a little rushed trying to cover the Heidelberg castle, town, bridge, Karl Benz museum (which was closed on that day) and Ladenburg/garden all in 8 hours. It is probably better to do just a Heidelberg tour, walk around the town, relax and do some shopping and enjoy the atmosphere.

Best of luck - If you’re really into history then this is good for you. I had two teenagers who were talking quietly in the back seat when our guide told them to shut up I’m talking. The first half of the day nobody was allowed to talk as he wanted to tell us his story. While actually a nice guy he insisted we remain silent the first half of the day. I am a very patient person however at his favorite restaurant I wanted to browse the menu and was actually told I needed to wait until he said I could look. I’m 67 and as well as the others we were treated like we were children. He got better after lunch. Myself it was a terrible experience
