Recommend this as a day out, and include the farm - A great day out, even better as the rain stayed off. Skipper Russ, assisted by Sandra (?) were both very informative and were keen to make the trip as best as possible for us. Interesting stop offs in the sound. At lunchtime opted for the visit to Wilson Bay farm, can recommend this. We were welcomed by Kelly & husband Trevor, who gave us a good insight into their off grid life on the sound and a tour of the farm. Didn’t get time for our lunch, as we were too busy chatting to them. And to cap the day off a large number of dolphins swam around the boat for a while on the way back. Also saw a seal eating its lunch & a sting ray … what a Saturday!

The way to see Pelorus Sound - The best way to get close to the Pelorus Sound - the bays, the islands, the inlets, but also to get an idea into the lives of people living in the remote parts of Marlborough Sounds. Bonus- we got dolphins swimming along the mailboat for good 10 minutes and saw a seal savouring an octopus!

A must do for us - A very special experience with a lot of explanations, very friendly crew and a wonderful way to discover Marlborough Sound. Exceptional landscapes and a lot of fun while delivering mail and tons a groceries to very remote locations.

Professional operation with personal touch - A very professional operation with a personal touch. All aspects of the cruise were handled smoothly and efficiently, from check-in, condition of the boat, and the professionalism and personalities of Ross the skipper and first mate Mark. All 4 of us enjoyed our lunch at Te Rawa Lodge. Add the stunning scenery of Pelorus Sound and this day out exceeded our expectations.

Spectacular mail boat excursion from Havelock - One of the highlights of our New Zealand tour. The weather was quite variable but the cloud formations just added to the experience and at one point, we witnessed a clear and perfect rainbow. The scenery throughout the trip was spectacular and added to that was the chance to watch mail and other deliveries in action. Many of the customers came down to their jetties to chat briefly with the boat crew and many brought their families and dogs along and even a pet pig at one place. The boat was comfortable with ample indoor seating, free beverages and importantly lots of space outside on the roof. My camera didn't know what had hit it. Even a pod of dolphins came to investigate us. Worth every penny.

Fabulous day! - Meeting the locals along the way as they received their mail, beautiful scenery, and dolphins. The boat was very comfortable and the pilot and host were very interactive and informative.

Disappointed. - It was bad weather, not anybody's fault. Then the main thrusters broke down having just being repaired the day before, so we did not get so far and limped back home.

You accompany the mail ship and the crew in their work.... - Honestly...we had imagined a relaxed tour through the PellorusSound...where you can quietly look at the unique landscape.....however, the disillusionment came relatively quickly, after leaving the port. The jet engines drove the boat over the water at 54 kmh, there was no stopping on the upper deck!!!So we continued the whole trip inside...very comfortable seats, but actually you want to experience something like this outside. It was a long five hours. However, I also want to emphasize: this is a real mail ship (and not a tourisightseeing tour) and the crew is doing an important job and they are doing it very well! The mistake was with us because we had booked with a different performance.
