5 star Experience- October 2024 - Jason was our driver from the hotel. Excellent experience with him to/fro, especially with explanations! James was our tour guide on the safari and was extremely knowledgeable about the park and the animals. He was enthusiastic, kind and professional. Thanks to the both of you for a memorable experience on this beautiful safari!

Fear not, scared tourists! - If you are a slightly nervous tourist but you want to have a safari experience while visiting Joberg - look no further! My husband and I had the best experience traveling from the Sandton area to Pilanesberg. We chose the closed car option because we were nervous about mishaps with the animals and mosquitos, and it ended up being the right choice for us. Jason was the nicest, most patient, and accommodating guide that you could ever ask for. He was knowledgeable and very respectful of the animals and the history of the city. The car was in excellent condition, he turned on the AC when we requested it, he had a cooler packed with tons of bottled water, and he pointed out places of interest and shared fun facts every step of the way. The Pilanesberg park is gorgeous and has tons of variety. We saw: Hippo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Kudu, Elephants, Fish eagle, Turtles, Crocodile, giraffe, and white rhino!!! You will regret it if you don’t go!

A must-do trip - My wife and I took our 8-year old son. It was a truly once in a lifetime experience. We were pinching ourselves frequently throughout the day. Jason picked us up at our hotel at 5:30 am. He was a wonderful guide to take us from Johannesburg to Pilanesberg. It's a solid 3 hour drive giver or take, but we loved seeing more of the countryside as the sun came up. About halfway through we stopped at a convenience store with a fast food restaurant where we got some espresso drinks and breakfast as well as some snacks for the day. It was also by an art store that was open at that early hour to show us their wares. We were happy to see and buy some of the art but if you aren't looking to add some take-home goods you might skip this, as the artists are good at convincing you that your experience wouldn't be complete without some of their wonderful work. When we arrived at the park we parted with Jason and boarded a larger open-air vehicle with a small group of other visitors who we loved spending the day with. Our driver, Benny, seemed to know everything about the park and the animals, his humor was excellent (all of his lines drew a laugh), and he was able to find numerous exciting encounters for us. We saw elephants very up-close, lions a bit off the road (close enough to be exciting, too far for a good iPhone pic), a rhino, three or four species of antelope, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and baboons. We got some very close and very exciting elephant encounters. In July the weather was chilly in the morning so we dressed in layers. We did a three hour game drive in the morning, stopped for lunch for an hour, and a two hour game drive in the afternoon. The food was good, though our son is a picky eater and didn't find something he liked. We were glad we packed him apples and snacks and I happily ate his meal. After the six hours in the park we met back up with Jason and he took us back to our hotel. We were exhausted, it is quite a long day. We arrived back at our hotel in Rosebank around 6:00pm, so door to door it was every bit of 12-13 hours. This was an absolutely fabulous experience. If you are considering going, you must. We would not replace the memory for anything.

What an experience! - What a perfect day! Jason was waiting for us before the time communicated with a well kept, comfortable vehicle. He had a well planned stop halfway as the drive to the safari was 2.5 hrs. Upon arrival he directed us to where we could find souvenirs as this was important to us. He had several bottles of water available and came to let us know when we needed to board for the safari. The open air safari vehicle was comfortable enough but occasionally the roads were a bit rough. Our driver and guide “T” was awesome! He stopped when someone thought they spotted something even if it was termite mounds. He was amiable and experienced. He even spotted a leopard. We saw most of the big five which was amazing and were able to get some incredible pictures. Lunch was provided with several tasty options and another opportunity to shop for souvenirs. After the afternoon trip around the park locating more animals we arrived back right on time. Jason then transported us safely back home while we rested from the long day. What memories we have and beautiful pictures to share! We also had the chance to connect with some nice people from all over the world. Exactly what one would expect from a one day safari! Highly recommend!

One in a lifetime experience! - Started when we got picked up at the hotel our driver Jason Pollard is very accommodating, kind, and informative. He made us feel at ease from the hotel and on the way back with emphasis on safety. Bernard our safari driver is funny and gave us the safety before started the to go our tour. Overall it was an experience that we will remember even we only saw 3 out 5 (Elephant, Rhinoceros, and Buffalo) of the big five. Plenty of Zebra, Giraffes, Deers and Wallabies. Recommended highly.

Great Safari! - Seeing the many different animals, such as elephants, cheetahs, hippos, baboons and many others in their element. Amazed at how our driver, Elvis, was able to immediately identify the animals at a glance, even though they were so far away and usually only a silhouette. The scenery, driver and guide were amazing and deserve 5 stars. We are giving 4 stars as the lunch was terrible.

Seeing great wildlife diversity close to a major city - Our driver to the park was exceptional. Jason Pollard was very informative and smooth as a driver. The park, for a fenced in park, was larger than I thought with much more diversity. Our guide was very knowledgeable. If you can’t do a open national park like what you would see in Tanzania, this is a great alternative.
