Additional Information

If you love animals and want an animal interaction experience, this is for you!

Meet elephants on foot in their natural environment. You will get to experience how they sound, how they eat, what size they grow to and their unique social interactions for yourself. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with these gentle giants.

Nearby is the Monkey Sanctuary which is inside a beautiful natural forested area where rescued monkeys and lemurs are free roaming. Often the monkeys will jump on your shoulder to catch a ride or see what is new in their world. Their antics will make you laugh and the monkey carers even know them by name and can tell you their personal stories. You will also learn more about their family units, how they forage for food and their life cycle.

The walk through the forested area is by means of a wooden platform and there is also a cool swinging bridge with amazing views of the surrounding rocky outcrop.

  • Not recommended for travellers with a fear of heights due to the swinging bridge on the monkey walk - rather choose only the elephant walk for seniors option
  • Not recommended for travellers who have difficulty walking on uneven surfaces

Must do excursion - Excellent tour. Enjoyed the monkey sanctuary the most. Would highly recommend this tour. As for See My Country Safaris, our guide Marlene was absolutely amazing!! She arrived at our hotel on time. Marlene joined our tours at the sanctuary and took photos of us. She is by far the best tour guide we’ve had.

A Highlight of our trip! - Our driver, Roland, was awesome - he picked us up and dropped us off on time, was friendly and hospitable, and gave us information about South Africa on our drive - he was such a pleasure. Once we arrived at the sanctuary, the guides took over - they provided an activity that was both ethical and enriching for both the animal and human participants. Highly recommend!

A amazing day - It was an amazing morning being around the elephants and monkeys. Got to brush the elephants, along with feeding them. To see them up close is a great experience. Also got to feed the monkeys, which as a fun thing to do. My tour guide was great, from the moment she picked me up at my hotel, until she dropped me off.

A wonderful day - This was such a wonderful trip, I would very highly recommend it. Sayomi, our guide, was very nice and everything ran smoothly. She also took photos and videos for us, which was nice. The elephant walk, in particular was an absolute highlight of our trip to South Africa. This was the third day trip we did with See My Country Safaris and I would recommend them to anyone.

Experience it for yourself! - From the time Sayomi picked us up at the hotel until she dropped us back off it was a great experience! Had great conversation on the way there and she accompanied and took pictures of us throughout the whole elephant walk. The monkey walk was awesome and it was so fun being able to have monkeys surrounding us and jumping on us! I even got groomed a it by one! All of the guides were great! Tony definitely had a great relationship with the monkeys and you could tell he really cared for them. He was very informative and answered every question we had! James was so animated he really brought the elephant experience to life! He had so much excited energy you couldn’t help but love every bit of the experience! The elephants are magnificent and gentle and we got to feed and touch them! Our choice for lunch was great and we even had time to shop in the local market. Overall, great day and would recommend!

Wonderful Experience. - We had a wonderful time. The guide in the Monkey Walk made sure to engage the young children in the group. He gave us bowls of food so they would interact directly with us. I especially loved the Lemurs. It was incredible getting to feed and touch the elephants. Sayomi was amazing and told us all about South Africa. My brother had a heat related issued and she stayed by his side until we knew he was ok.
