Day 1: Windhoek – Namib Desert

Begin your journey with an early morning departure from Windhoek, heading south towards the breathtaking landscapes of the Namib Desert. Enjoy a picturesque drive through Namibia’s expansive countryside, passing by quaint settlements and striking desert scenery.

During the journey, your guide will make brief stops for photos and refreshments, allowing you to appreciate the ever-evolving landscape.

Upon reaching the Sossusvlei area, check in at Namibia Desert Lodge or a similar accommodation, conveniently located near the entrance of the Namib-Naukluft National Park.

In the afternoon, unwind at the lodge, soak in the tranquil desert ambiance, or marvel at the stunning views of the ancient fossilized dunes.

Solitaire - On the return trip to Windhoek, the tour includes a stop at Solitaire, a charming and iconic desert settlement situated along the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This historic stop is renowned among travelers for its vintage cars, rustic desert vibe, and legendary bakery.

Stretch your legs, explore the quirky desert surroundings, and savor the chance to taste the world-famous apple pie from Moose McGregor’s Bakery, often hailed as one of the best in Namibia. The stop also provides excellent photo opportunities of the abandoned classic cars scattered across the desert landscape, creating a unique and memorable backdrop.

Day 2: Sossusvlei – Deadvlei – Sesriem Canyon

Stop At: Big Daddy Dune, Sossusvlei, and Namib-Naukluft Park Namibia Take the time to climb one of the highest dunes

Big Daddy Dune - Big Daddy is the tallest dune in the Sossusvlei area. This impressive dune is located between Sossusvlei and Deadvlei and at 325 meters it towers over the other dunes. For those seeking ultimate bragging rights, bring plenty of water and trek to the top of Big Daddy where you can gaze down onto Deadvlei.

At 325 meters, Big Daddy may be the tallest dune in the Sossusvlei area, but it is not the tallest in the Namib Desert. That title belongs to Dune 7, which stands at 388 meters. Dune 7 got its name by being the 7th dune along the Tsauchab River.

Deadvlei - Deadvlei is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, within the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia.

Sesriem Canyon - Sesriem Canyon is located approximately 4.5km from the entrance gate of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The Tsauchab River has carved the Canyon over millions of years and it is one of the few places in the area that retains water throughout the year.

Namib Desert – Return to Windhoek

Windhoek - Relish breakfast at the lodge while enjoying the serene desert surroundings before embarking on the journey back to Windhoek.

Travel once more through Namibia’s dramatic desert landscapes as your guide shares fascinating stories about the region’s wildlife, geology, and culture.
