There is by far the best experience I’ve had travelling! - Even at a very early 4am meet, we knew we had made the best decision to take this tour. We would not normally take tours but this is very different to what is normally on offer, staying well away from the tourist crowds and getting fully immersed in the local culture. We were met at our hotel at 4am and taken around all the different markets in the area, trying different food along the way. Duyen, our guide was incredible. So knowledgable and passionate. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish and a memory we will never forget. Thank you Dugan, we hope to be back soon for another one of your amazing tours!

The only way to discover the beating heart of Hanoi - Chef Duyen picked us up at 4 am to bring us to the huge night market where the food (fruit, vegetables, animals) from many parts of Northern Vietnam arrive in Hanoi. Let her guide you through the stalls and you will discover something you don't usually see at home, and understand a big part of Vietnamese culture. Then, of course, you'll have a yummy breakfast with the locals in tiny shops you wouldn't even notice if you went there without a guide. Thanks Chef!

An unforgettable 4am food adventure – the perfect way to discover Hanoi! - If you’re wondering whether a 4am start is worth it… the answer is a resounding YES! This food tour with A Chef’s Tour was hands down one of the most unique and memorable experiences of our time in Hanoi.
Our guide was not only a professional chef but also an incredibly warm and passionate local who brought Hanoi’s vibrant food scene to life with stories, history, and deep culinary insight. From the moment we met, we were swept into the city’s early morning rhythm—watching vendors set up in the markets, sampling dishes alongside locals, and exploring hidden gems that are simply not accessible later in the day.
The food? Absolutely incredible. Every stop was a flavour explosion—from fresh noodle dishes and bun ca made right in front of us, to the best banh mi we’ve ever had. We also loved the chance to try items we’d never have ordered on our own, all explained with care and cultural context.
What made it truly special was the intimate, behind-the-scenes look at how food shapes daily life in Hanoi. No tourist crowds, no tourist traps—just honest, beautiful food at the heart of the city’s soul.
Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the real Hanoi before it wakes up. It’s an early rise, but you’ll be buzzing from the experience (and coffee) all day long with many personalised food recommendations to explore for the remainder of our trip

The Most Unique Food Tour You'll Experience - most food tours we've been on were quite standard — you just go around and eat food. but this was truly something different. we got to experience a side of hanoi we didn't know exist, namely, the wet market. really glad i got to try such a unique experience

Great twist on a food tour. - Going to the Long Biên Market at 4 am was quite the experience. Coupled with observing the goings on around the market and the great food selections, this was definitely one of the most memorable food tours that I have been on. Chef Duyen was a great and knowledgeable host and her passion for food and community was evident.

Best Food Tour I have ever done, real unique experience - This was the highlight of all of our travels in Southeast Asia. Chef Duyen is knowledgeable, knows everyone, and is so passionate about what she does. This food tour takes you through places you would never get to on your own and introduces you to foods you would never know to look for. Worth the 4AM start time. I’ll be talking about this for months.

Highly recommend - 4am is worth the start to see what the locals see & the hive of activity of the markets. Misses the heat of the day too.
Chef Duyen is great!! Absolutely amazing learning about how the food gets from farm to the plate.

More of a market tour than a food tour - This is really more of a market tour than a food tour. Chef Duyen is a great guide and very knowledgeable, and you’ll get an insight into everything going on at the markets and in the backstreets before dawn. However, you won’t get to taste as many different dishes as you do on The Chef’s Tour at other locations. Given that this tour is priced at more than twice the price of other food tours in Hanoi, I’m not sure I would say it’s worth it
