Great Expirience - Bella is a very upbeat and considerate tour guide, who made my two days of exploring Shanghai a great experience. Her English is good, as is her taste when it comes to buying souvenirs and local foods. Recommend.

Small group tour of Shanghai - We visited Shanghai at the beginning of a 3 week trip to China with Travel China Guide. Our tour guide in Shanghai was Sophie Lee. Sophie herded our little group around to the Maglev train between the Metro Station and the airport (a must-do; the train achieves 350 km/hour), the Yuyuan Garden, the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower, and the Zhujiajiao Water Town. We also had a day on our own in Shanghai, which most of our party used to visit Shanghai DisneyWorld, and some of us walked around the town and visited the very good Shanghai Museum by the People's Square. Sophie was a great guide, and packed a lot of sightseeing into our limited time there. She also arranged for us to do a nighttime boat ride along the waterfront at the Bund, where they do a beautiful light show every night. We enjoyed our visit to Shanghai, and really appreciated our guide Sophie. Thanks Sophie!

Absolutely invaluable! - Travel China Guide Tours has been absolutely amazing! Our first planned day was a private tour to Suzhou with Jakob and it was great! Since it was just a tour for us he adapted our day to fit our desires. It worked out perfectly and Jakob was friendly, interesting and informative. He was a pleasure to work with!
Our second day, nothing went as planned, but that was due to a major disaster on our part—one of our family members left his phone, passport and credit card in a taxi. (Big lesson learned—always take the receipt from the taxi in case something like this happens!). In a flash our new outstanding guide, Mulan, and the rest of the Travel China Guide team jumped into action! They adjusted our travel plans for the rest of the trip, notified the police department, gathered information, and took us to the police department and US Embassy (closed for the holiday...), and did everything they could to help us locate the lost items. When we did what we could, Mulan saved the day and completely adjusted our tour for the remaining time so we could actually enjoy our day in Shanghai.
I can’t tell you how much we appreciate all the support we have received from the Travel China Guide team—from our booking agent, Kelly, to the guides and others behind the scenes personnel. They have been invaluable to us here in China! Despite our troubles they have been awesome!

Excellent tour of key places in and around Shanghai! - The places on the tour were great. There were no stops that felt unnecessary, rushed or made for us to purchase something. Shanghai is amazing and our tour guide William was outstanding. He was very nice and patient in addition to being extremely knowledgable. Spoke English very well. It was a private tour of 8 which included our family of 4 and our friends and their kids (all kids were teens). William gave us plenty of time, picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel (which we paid a little extra for since it was near Disney and not in the city center). The tour did not include the Pearl Tower so recommend you spend time there and in the surrounding area. William up-sold a Cirque show with acrobats that was amazing. Well worth the price paid. He even made an effort to take us to a food location with plenty of local and foreign restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Ask for William!

Happy with this tour company—travelchinaguide.com - We were very happy with this companys knowledge about the 15 day visa exemption policy that we could apply for. This is a visa exemption that you can use if you are coming in on a cruise ship and saved us not having to get a visa for China which would have cost us $240 US each. Our cruise ship did not tell us about this option and we were discouraged that we would have that added expense.
We found this company on TripAdvisor but admittedly were a bit nervous about booking with a company we knew nothing about. We were so pleased with the effort they made and the booking process. There were many emails back and forth as we worked thru language differences, and the time zone made some communication tricky...but we were both patient with each other and it worked out so well! Emily offered suggestions of what our tour could include and we asked about places we had read about and we felt like we got a great view of the old and the new in Shanghai.
We were also pleased that we could pay thru the PayPal option!
We did have to have some last minute scrambling because this tour company had planned to meet us at the port and give our documents (group visa) to immigration and our cruise wouldn’t allow this. We ended up having to make a satellite phone call from the ship to Emily’s personal cell phone. She was so accommodating and sent the email with a copy of the group visa which we accessed when we got to our first port.
Our time with Thomas and our driver was awesome! The vehicle was roomy and clean and our driver excellent in her driving skills and getting us quickly and efficiently to our destinations. Thomas was very knowledgeable and professional and very easy to talk to. We loved hearing all about Shanghai from him.
We ended up with having our cruise ship shorten the time we had in port the second day due to tide levels and so Thomas and our driver readjusted our schedule and ended up staying later with us the first day so we could do more things that day!
We were very pleased at the end of our tour and were glad we booked with this company. We felt like we got our money’s worth and were very happy with the whole process and what we saw. We felt safe and well taken care of the whole time.
The only frustration we had is the toll free phone number for the US just rang and rang...we even called at times we knew were business hours in China. But they did try to call us back later and we were in bed...

Private Tour of Shanghai - I just came back from doing the 12 day private tour from Travel China Guide. We started in Beijing, then continued to Xian, Chengdu, Guilin, Yangshuo & finally Shanghai. I will limit myself to the Beijing portion of the tour for this review, and will review the other cities separately.
I did not know what to expect since I'd never been to China before. I was hesitant about booking a tour online. We booked the private, no shopping tour.
I have to tell you that the trip was one of the best of my life. Starting with Angela, who was the person that I communicated with via email to coordinate all of the details of the trip. She was professional, courteous & helpful. She answered all of the questions precisely & quickly.
When we arrived in Shanghai, we were greeted by Johnnie, our tour guide at the airport. He was excellent. He took us to our private car, where they had bottled water waiting for us. Then, they drove us to our hotel, and checked in for us.
We had 2 nights in Shanghai. We got to see the Shanghai Museum, the Yuyuan garden, a really delicious alacarte lunch, a Huangpu River cruse and walking along the Bund.
I could have spent a full day in the Shanghai museum, but due to time constraints, this was not an option unfortunately. The Yuyuan Garden is beautiful. If you are into botanical gardens at all, this is not to be missed. I loved it. The river boat cruise is spectacular because you can see Shanghai's skyline which is impressive!
Johnnie was a great guide to have. He was cheerful, friendly & outgoing. He explained details that I would never have gotten if I had gone on my own. I also enjoyed the hotel. It was very nice.
We really enjoyed our time in Shanghai and look forward to going back!
