- Operettenhaus - Admire the exterior of the historic Operettenhaus, a premier venue in Hamburg with a rich history spanning over 150 years. Established in 1840 as “Circus Gymnasticus,” it was renamed “Centralhalle” in 1864, and finally became the “Operettenhaus” in 1920. By this time, it had already become a prominent stage for international stars, attracting visitors worldwide to St. Pauli. Although nearly destroyed in the 1943 bombings, it was revitalized with a new style and offerings, becoming renowned for theater plays and musicals, a reputation it maintains today.
- Polizeikommissariat 15 Davidwache - Hamburg’s most renowned police station exemplifies the city’s vibrant and tolerant spirit, situated where the red-light district meets law enforcement. It is one of the most striking buildings in the Reeperbahn district, with officers overseeing 14,000 people each night. The station is also known for hosting notable “guests,” such as Paul McCartney and Pete Best, who spent nights there.
- Herbertstraße - Herbertstraße is not immediately visible, concealed by a barrier that prohibits women’s entry. This leads to a short, 60-meter street known for its infamous red-light district windows. During the Nazi era, prostitution and striptease were banned, but these restrictions were not enforced in St. Pauli, allowing such activities to persist in Herbertstraße to this day. To prevent sex workers from being seen publicly, barriers and signs were erected in 1933, forbidding women’s entry. However, it remains a public street accessible to all.
- Grosse Freiheit 36 - Named in the 17th century to honor the religious freedom granted to non-Lutherans and commercial freedom for artisans, it still houses a Catholic church (St. Joseph) amidst a setting of less holy enterprises. This is where the Beatles began their performances in venues like Große Freiheit 36 (Kaiserkeller), Große Freiheit 64, and Große Freiheit 39 (the Star-Club, 1962–1969) during the 1960s.
- Beatles-Platz - Beatles-Platz is a square designed to resemble a vinyl record, featuring five statues of all Beatles members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Stuart Sutcliffe, George Harrison, along with drummers Pete Best and Ringo Starr, both of whom played with the band during their Hamburg years.
