Hop on Hop off Bus service - My husband and I were on NCL and planned to tour the area using the Hop On Hop Off Bus Service. We made our way to our designated location for pick up and loved our ride from the beginning to the very end with Janis. Once we hopped off, we walked and enjoyed the sites of Halifax! We highly recommend using this service when visiting this harbor town.

Must do! - The best way to see the city! Buses ran on time and guides were entertaining and informative. Extremely good choice for my adult disabled daughter to see the highlights. Highly recommend!

Great day in Halifax - We loved our day exploring Halifax. What a fantastic city. I have been on hop on hop off buses in different parts of the world and this was the best one I have done so far. The speaker system was nice and clear, the announcers spoke well and had a good sense of humour. There seemed to be plenty of buses running as we rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes. Definitely recommend this as a great way to visit and enjoy Halifax!

Best staff! - The driver and the guide were so helpful and knowledgeable about Halifax! We have a person in our party who has mobility issues and it wasn’t a problem at all. Made such a huge difference!

Pricey but decent - Overpriced for 10 stops. The bus engine was too loud so hard to hear the cometary. Covers a good area of the city but should cost less.

Halifax Tour, September 2024 - We booked a tour with the Ambassatours On/Off bus in Halifax in September, 2024. Our tour guide was a young lady who was quite funny and new the history of Halifax quite well. The overall experience was a little disappointing. Buses were packed and at each stop there were several people waiting to get on, but had to be turned away for the “next bus that was coming”. As the tour went on my wife and I decided to stay on the bus as we didn’t want to jeopardize missing our next scheduled tour. To their defense there were two cruise ships in port, several of the riders were passengers, and Halifax had an incredible amount of road construction going on.

Did not choose this transportation! - Paid the most for this excursion and very disappointed. Bus pick ups too far apart and not enough busses running. Waited over an hour at the gardens and bus was full, walked to the memorial and all uphill, too taxing. Waited for 3rd bus and never got off again as to not lose a seat. Cold and windy!

Waste of $ - Bought this bus access as part of a shore excursion from my cruise. Waste of $ as I never saw a bus with a driver. Exited ship at 1:30p & queued up at an empty pink bus at the port terminal. No driver. Waited 20 -25 min, no driver. Decided to walk into town as I needed to be back on board at 4:30. Hoped to "hop on" at another stop but never saw another bus & didn't have the time to burn waiting at stops. Felt bad for the less ambulatory folks who had no choice but to wait. Another passenger did ride a bus & said the "guide" actually yelled at passengers to "shut up" & talked more about her coffee preferences than about Halifax .

Shari spoiled an otherwise fun time - We booked through our cruise ship. It was convenient to get on the bus right in front of the ship as stop 1 is there. We climbed aboard and sat in the lower level as my wife has a broken arm and could not climb to the top deck. The lower level filled up and a woman stepped aboard and looked at my daughter and said “I need to sit there” and told her and her partner to “find other seats elsewhere on the bus” At this point there weren’t any together. She didn’t identify herself she just told them she had to sit in that seat. It turns out she is the guide but failed to mark the seats she was supposed to sit in. She was so rude she really ruined the mood as my adult kids had to scramble to find someplace to sit and they were no longer together. Every Canadian we encountered during our stay was friendly and kind and polite. Shari was the major exception. We all got off at stop 2 and changed buses. All of the other drivers we encountered were excellent. Shari needs to be retrained. Either mark the seat as other drivers did or just be polite and say I’m sorry as the guide I am required to sit there to give the presentation.

Two thumbs down - Regrettably, this was the worst experience we have ever had with this type of tour. The audio on the top deck cut in and out for many stops. We had no idea that stop one was at a port of entry for cruise ships. We were told we had to exit the bus and stand back in line with several hundred people who had purchased tickets thru the cruise line. We explained we had not been on the entire route and started at the address Viator stated on the website which was stop three or four. We did not want to waste and hour in line so we walked backed to the beginning of where we parked. Best advice is to know if cruise ships get picked up on these tours. We even spoke to the Hop On Hop Off agent and due to booking thru Viator they couldn’t help us. They could only apologize.
