Our wonderful short vacation in Japan made possible via Viator tour package. - Private tour to Hakone is very good. We got to see what we want to see, ride the Ropeway, the Pirate Cruise Boat, Picasso Open Air Museum, and other beautiful places, and able to take pictures and videos of them. It’s very satisfying. The driver, Mac is very professional, courteous, nice and drives safely that no matter how curvy, narrow, difficult some roads along the way, we all feel safe and able to take a nap quietly. He can also answer the questions we had in mind. We are very thankful to him and to Viator for our wonderful tour experience and ultimately gave us a pleasant and beautiful short vacation in Japan. God may bless this company.

This was a pretty full... - This was a pretty full day. 1.5 hours drive in each direction, but beautiful scenery in every direction. Abdul was an excellent driver/guide and took some great photos for us. I highly recommend him.

Amazing experience - Mt Fuji and Hakone district is an amazing experience by itself which our guide, Ali, with a perfectly clean car and travel equipment and
especially with his great manners,knowledge, humor and patience made it unforgettable. Long lasting memories are here to stay !

A great way to see the area around Mt. Fuji! - We had an outstanding day with Ali. He drove us to places that we would've struggled to find on our own, and he was always helpful. And he was great at taking pictures of our group!
The tour itself is really nice. The first shrine we went to was stunning - the setting is beautiful and peaceful, and there were relatively few other people there. I also thought that the Hakone Open Air Museum was amazing.

Great Day Trip from Tokyo – Recommended - Ahmed was our driver and guide—friendly and easygoing. The pickup from our preferred location was a major convenience.
Hakone was a nice break from the busy pace of Tokyo. The boat ride on Lake Ashi and the gondola up the mountain to the volcanic steam area were memorable experiences. Trying the famous black egg was a fun highlight.
We chose to skip the outlet shopping, as it felt similar to what we could do back home in the U.S. The Hakone Open-Air Museum was excellent and featured a Picasso exhibit during our visit (May 2025).
Although the weather was overcast and Mt. Fuji was only partially visible, the tour overall was a great experience. Would recommend.

Private day trip to Hakone - Loved our day at Hakone, our driver did speak great English, very polite and did everything to make us happy.

Hakone trip - Wonderful trip. Great communication on the front end. Seamless pick up at our Tokyo hotel. Comfortable ride to hakone. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we adjusted the tour to more indoor activities which were great. Abdul was our tour guide and was Wonderful, entertaining and knowledgeable! Had a great time. We had another day in hakone and guided us on the activities to do and even followed up the next day to make sure everything went well. Very satisfied!

Not a tour: Chauffeur only - On the plus side, we got to visit Hakone and explore the area. On the negative side, the person assigned to us was a driver only and didn't know anything about the Hakone area. He had been in Japan for only 2 years and didn't speak or read Japanese very well. He had never actually attended any of the locations or tours and so didn't even know what to expect at each spot. He was a very poor driver, with lots of unnecessary rapid accelerations and decelerations, and several near accidents. We didn't get to see everything on the itinerary, as the itinerary itself is based on perfect conditions with no traffic and no lines. In reality, we had to queue to buy tickets, queue for lunch, queue for the boat, queue for the ropeway, queue for pictures at the shrine, etc. Then we were told we had to leave early because traffic was bad and it would take longer than originally planned to get back. Very disappointing all the way around.

Fuji trip - Driver had no guidance at all regarding complicated cable cars at Fuji and weather at the top. Seemed like he was never there before. Also car smelled of smoke, and he drove with one hand fast around curves while looking at his phone.

Terrible experience – Not recommended - We booked a 10-hour private tour to Hakone and Mount Fuji, but it was a complete mess. The driver arrived late, didn’t know the route, and wasted time at toll booths without the proper card. We even had to pay two tolls ourselves to avoid getting back even later.
The itinerary was poorly planned, we didn’t eat all day because he had no restaurant suggestions, and he drove unsafely with our kids in the car. Exhausting and frustrating—definitely not worth the time or money.
