- Cat Ba National Park - Cat Ba National Park stands out as a remarkable park within Vietnam’s national park system, being the first in the nation to encompass both forest and marine ecosystems. As the central zone of the Cat Ba Archipelago World Biosphere Reserve and a Special National Monument and Scenic Site, it exemplifies typical Asian tropical and subtropical marine-island ecosystems. These include primary tropical rainforests on limestone islands, mangrove forests, coral reefs, intertidal zones, cave ecosystems, saltwater lakes, bays, coves, and lagoons. These ecosystems are adjacent and interconnected, creating a remarkably rich landscape and habitat. The park is also the sole conservation area in Vietnam and globally that supports small populations of the Cat Ba Langur.
- Trung Trang Cave - Situated just a 10-minute walk from the Park Headquarters and 1 km south of the National Park’s center, near the road to Cat Ba Town, Trung Trang Cave is one of the largest and most representative caves in the Cat Ba Biosphere Reserve. It is a highly appealing tourist destination, attracting tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors each year.
Spanning approximately 300 meters through the core of a limestone mountain, the cave boasts countless stunning stalactites in a variety of fascinating shapes. Upon entering, visitors are not only captivated by the incredible beauty and unique natural formations but also introduced to a local legend about Cat Ba Island. They are sure to be impressed and delighted by the spectacular stalactites and the colony of bats residing within the cave.
- Hospital Cave - Quan Y Cave (Military Medical Cave) is the most distinctive among the numerous large and small caves in the Cat Ba Archipelago area. It not only showcases the unique structure of coastal limestone mountain systems but also reflects the extraordinary creativity and combat resilience of humans. This site recorded many glorious victories of the military and people during the years of resistance against the Americans.
Located midway up the mountain, right along the island-crossing road, Quan Y Cave was naturally formed and later modified by humans. Previously known as Hung Son Cave, named after the young man from Cat Island who aided the king in fighting the An invaders, the cave was transformed into a military hospital during the war, hence the name Quan Y Cave (Military Medical Cave).
