Tarangire National Park - Begin your safari adventure with a morning pick-up from Arusha (or Kilimanjaro airport) and enjoy a picturesque 2.5-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant herds. On your initial game drive, anticipate sightings of zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, and possibly elusive leopards. After a picnic lunch within the park, continue your exploration before checking in at your midrange tented lodge, where you’ll relish sunset views, a freshly prepared dinner, and your first night in the African bush.
Tarangire – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Ngorongoro Crater - Following breakfast, head towards the lush Ngorongoro Highlands for a Crater tour. The Crater is home to Africa’s Big Five, including lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and, on a lucky day, you might spot the black rhinos. Enjoy a delightful lunch by the hippo pool, then ascend from the Crater and drive to Ndutu, the northern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival at your lodge in Ndutu, unwind over dinner with the cool highland air preparing you for the next day’s adventure.
Full Day in Ndutu
Ndutu Lake - Spend an entire day in the Ndutu plains, the heart of the wildebeest calving grounds. From December through March, it’s peak birthing season, with over 8,000 calves born daily during the peak, attracting intense predator action from lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. You’ll explore off-road in areas permitted in Ndutu, allowing for close encounters. Expect thrilling predator-prey interactions, massive herds of wildebeest and zebra, and abundant birdlife. Enjoy lunch in the bush and return to camp for storytelling by the campfire and dinner under the stars.
Ndutu-Serengeti National Park (Central)
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, set off for the Central Serengeti, enjoying another game drive along the way. This region is teeming with wildlife year-round and offers excellent opportunities to see resident big cats, especially leopards along the Seronera River. Pause for a picnic lunch and continue with an afternoon game drive before arriving at your midrange tented camp. Watch the sun set behind acacia trees as you dine in the wilderness and listen to the distant calls of hyenas and lions.
