Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Kilimanjaro International Airport - Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a driver will be there to greet you and provide a transfer to our hotel in Moshi, where you will enjoy a bed and breakfast stay.

Moshi to Mti Mkubwa Camp Site

Mti Mkubwa Camp - After breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel to the edge of the national park forest. From there, enjoy a walk through the pristine forest to Mti Mkubwa campsite for dinner and an overnight stay. With some luck, you might spot colobus monkeys and signs of elephants.

Shira Camp

Shira Camp - Enjoy a leisurely walk through the forest, observing the abundant wildlife and bird species. You will traverse the montane forest and hagenia zone. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Shira camp.

Shira Plateau to Fisher Camp Site

Shira - Today’s hike takes you across the Shira plateau, ascending the western slope of the Kibo massif. Overnight stay will be at Fisher campsite.

Fisher Camp to Lava Tower to Alpine Zone

Shira Camp - After breakfast, hike up to Lava Tower, your first introduction to the alpine zone, where only the hardiest grasses and lichens survive. Here, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the final ascent route up the Western Breach.

Western Breach Ascent Route

Shira Camp - With the Western Breach ascent route in sight, spend a few hours climbing to the base of the route, where you will set up camp near Arrow Glacier. An afternoon hike further up the route will aid in acclimatization and enhance your performance the following day.

Crater Floor

Shira Camp - Navigate the non-technical climbing route of the Western Breach for about six hours to reach the crater rim. Explore the inner crater and ash pit before setting up camp on the crater floor.

Summit Day

Descent

Moshi - The descent to the roadhead takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. After lunch, bid farewell to your porters and transfer to Moshi for dinner and an overnight stay.

Nairobi - A driver will provide a transfer from your hotel in Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport, bidding you farewell.
