About the Park:
The Hurulu Eco Park in Habarana is part of the Hurulu Forest Reserve and is situated alongside several other reserves and national parks, including Kaudulla and Minneriya. Covering over 10,000 hectares, the park features dry evergreen forests, waterways, rich grasslands, and abandoned cultivation lands. Some cultivation lands within the reserve are still utilized by farmers practicing shifting cultivation, occasionally leading to human-elephant conflicts.
The park experiences an average annual temperature of 27.3°C and receives 1600 millimeters of rainfall each year.
