Bulguksa represents the Buddhist paradise that the Silla people aspired to, an ideal world of peace. This aspiration is depicted in three aspects: the Saha world of Sakyamuni Buddha based on the Lotus Sutra, the Paradise of Amitabha Buddha based on the Infinite Life Sutra, and the Lotus World of Vairocana Buddha based on the Avatamsaka Sutra. These are uniquely expressed through the temple’s layout, with sections centered around the Daeungjeon, Geungnakjeon, and Birojeon.

Gyeongju National Museum - The Gyeongju National Museum is Korea’s leading museum, providing a comprehensive insight into Silla’s cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the rich history of the Silla Kingdom, which spanned from 57 BC to 935 AD. A highlight is the authentic Silla Golden Crown, crafted 1,500 years ago. Starting your visit in Gyeongju before exploring other historical sites will enhance your experience. Daereungwon Tomb Complex - The Silla tombs in the Daereungwon area of Gyeongju are a representative burial site of Silla, housing the tombs of Silla kings and nobles from the early Silla period. The tombs are constructed in the stone mound style, which makes them difficult to loot, and most remain intact. Excavations since the Japanese colonial period have uncovered numerous artifacts, including gold crowns and large vessels, providing crucial insights into early Silla culture.

Woljeonggyo Bridge - Woljeonggyo is a wooden bridge built during the Unified Silla period in the capital, Seorabeol. It spans the Namcheon River in Gyeongju and connects Gyeongju Wolseong, the royal palace, with the Namsan area and Dodang Mountain Fortress. First recorded in the Samguk Sagi, it was constructed in the 19th year of King Gyeongdeok’s reign (760). Originally named Woljeonggyo, it was later changed during the Goryeo period. The bridge was completed in 2013, and its full restoration was finished in 2018. Woljeonggyo showcases the artistic and architectural skills of the Silla people.

Gwangalli Beach - Gwangalli is a popular destination for young people, where visitors can enjoy live octopus (for a fee) and fish cake soup while admiring the Gwangan Bridge. The area offers not only beaches but also unique restaurants, cafes, and fashion stores comparable to those in the city. There are various foods and attractions, and the night view of Gwangalli Bridge is particularly stunning. The beach area features a romantic cafe street, around 300 raw fish restaurants, an outdoor stage for festivals like the Busan Sea Festival, and a drone show every Saturday.

Cheonmachong Tomb - Cheonmachong is a tomb in Gyeongju, believed to be the resting place of King Jijeung, one of the 21st or 22nd kings of Silla. It measures 47m in diameter and 12.7m in height. Excavated in 1973, it yielded 11,297 burial items, including the Cheonmado (National Treasure No. 207), a gold crown (National Treasure No. 188), and a gold hat (National Treasure No. 189). The tomb is named after a painting of a white Cheonmado flying into the sky, found on birch bark. It also contained paintings of a Western king and a horseman. Located in Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do (within Daereungwon), the tomb’s interior has been restored and is open to the public. Visitors can step back 2,000 years and imagine the elegance of the Silla Dynasty and the lives of its kings.

Songdo Cable Car - The Songdo Marine Cable Car was revitalized as the ‘Busan Air Cruise’ brand in June 2017, restoring the former glory of Songdo Beach, Korea’s first public beach. Reaching a maximum height of 86m, it spans 1.62km across the sea from Songnim Park on the east side of Songdo Beach to Amnam Park on the west side, offering a thrilling ride with views of Songdo Beach, Busan Yeongdo, Namhang Bridge, Songdo Coastal Trail, and rocky cliffs. It also features attractions like ‘Dino Adventure’ with giant dinosaurs, ‘Songdo Doppelmeier World’, Korea’s first cable car museum, and ‘VR Sky Swing’, Asia’s first aerial acrobatics experience. Visitors can also walk along the skywalk to see Geobuk Island and Songdo Beach and learn about the Korean mermaid legend.

The village’s uniqueness is highlighted by its terraced residential structures and maze-like alleyways. The 『Village Art Project』, initiated by local artists and residents to preserve Gamcheon’s historical value, led to the creation of Gamcheon Cultural Village.
