Situated in Longji township of Longsheng county, the terraced fields lie 78 kilometers from Guilin City. The altitude varies greatly with the lowest terrace at 380 meters above sea level and the highest reaching 1,850 meters, offering a striking difference of over 1500 meters. These terraces exhibit the unique weather patterns typically found in mountainous regions. The stepped terraces are primarily found at altitudes between 300 and 1,100 meters above sea level, gradually ascending from the mountain base to its peak.
The Zhuang and Yao indigenous communities inhabit Longji village, settled in time-honored stockade wooden houses.
