In this extraordinary venue, human creativity accounts for only half of the experience, while the enigmatic forces of nature contribute the rest. Should it rain, we provide raincoats for your comfort; in the warmth of summer, it’s advisable to bring along insect repellent; floods might submerge parts of the seating area; and in the event of a thunderstorm, the show may need to be paused. This theatrical production includes the involvement of over 600 individuals. A majority come from five riverside communities, where they earn their livelihood through fishing. These participants engage in their aquatic trade during daylight hours and take part in the show at night, using their bamboo rafts as props. Among the cast are young vocalists hailing from Dong ethnic villages and youthful females from various other ethnic minority groups. Their performances are characterized by organic, untutored vocal expressions and impromptu dance movements. Set against the stunning backdrop of their surroundings, they embody a rare and authentic beauty.
