Longji - Ping'an Rice Terrace Fields & Long Hair Show Small Group Tour - Charles Guilin Tours organised this excellent one day tour for me. It was a small group tour with 4 travellers in a minivan car. Our english-speaking guide was Peter, who was our driver as well. After the hotel pick-ups and a two hour drive from Guilin, we arrived to the Yao village. We decided to buy tickets to the show of the long-haired yao women started at 11 a.m. It was a nice 45 minutes-long show with music, dances, some funny plays with the audience and at the end the yao women showed their extremely long hair on the stage. After the show, Peter guided us around in the minority village, we visitied a traditionally built residential house, then a small weaving house where the traditional clothes of the local yao women were displayed. We tasted the local passion fruit which is very sweet and delicious. They were all interesting and it took not more than 30 minutes. The minority village for the tourists is kind of a mixture of an open-air folk museum and a marketplace where the local men and women sell food, souvenir, handcraft works, etc. Then we decided to miss the lunch and approach the rice terraces. So we got back into the car, and after a 20 minutes drive up on the zigzag way we arrived to the parking lot of the Ping'an Terraced Fields. There Peter suggested to use the golf cars uphill and then take a walk downhill form the terraces and we accepted this. It was a good decision because there was already around 1 p.m. and the walk downhill is easier and the downhill path is interesting enough, it is no need to hike uphill. The golf car ride take 10 minutes and its cost is not included in the price of the day tour. We arrived to the No. 1. Nine Dragons and Five Tigers scenic spot. There the beautiful scenery of the rice terraces and the mountains around them came into our sight. In october we were before the rice harvest and the terraces coruscated in golden colour. After we took photos we began our walk to the No. 2. Seven Stars Accompany the Moon scenic spot. The path is above the terraces, paved and in level, so the walk is really pleasant, you can enjoy the breathtaking sight of the landscape and take excellent photos. During our walk Peter told about the rice growing and about the other plants growing in the fields. He kindly and patiently took photos about us if we asked him to. On the path there are stalls where locals sell food, drink and other products produced in that fields. Peter took us to a short tea tasting ceremony and we could taste local fruits as well. The walk took about 2 hours. Then we began descending to the Ping'an Zhuang Village and we decided to have lunch. Peter guided us to a restaurant which is right above the village and has a beautiful view to the rice terraces and the mountains around them. We choosed to have the most famous local speciality, the bamboo chicken. We could observe how the chopped chicken meat is stuffed into a bamboo shell and baked in an open fire oven. The portion is huge, so it is perfect for 4 persons. We ate it with rice and vegetables. The cost of the lunch is not included in the price of the tour. After lunch we entered the Zhuang Village. The Zhuang people are an other minority than Yao people, living in the Guanxi Autonomous Region. It was very interesting descending through the narrow footways of the village, and watch the traditional houses built on the hillside. After a half hour walk we arrived back to the parking lot to our car. Peter transported us back safe to Guilin with a 2 hours drive and the perfect day tour finished. Some tour operators offer a Longji day tour with a short visit of the Dazhai Terraced Fields and a short visit of the Pingan Terraced Fields in the same day, but the Dazhai Terraced Fields are farther away, occupy a larger area and you should ascend to there with cable car, so I think is better to visit the Dazhai Terraces in a two day tour with one night spending up there. Ping'an Terraced Fields are extensive and amazing themself and visiting them with the Long Hair Village is a perfect tour and is enough for a day. I highly recommend Charles Guilin Tours' Small Group Tour under the guidance of Peter for visiting the Longji Rice Terraces.

Great tour with breathtaking views - The Place itself is amazing, the views of rice fields was breathtaking. Wang was great, and friendly. picked us up from the hotel in time, and took to the destination. We had lunch in the minority village (own expense) with nice view. We had a bit extra time and stopped for a tea experience.

Professionally run tour - I had a wonderful experience on this Longji Rice Terrace tour. The tour operator was very easy to communicate with via WhatsApp — responsive and helpful throughout. The driver spoke decent English, was courteous and professional, and made the trip very comfortable. We had plenty of time for all the activities and never felt rushed. When the morning started off foggy, they quickly adjusted the itinerary so we could make the most of the day — really appreciated their flexibility. Overall, everything went smoothly, and I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!

Interesting little trek among the rice terraces. - Small group of 5 people. Timely pick up at the hotel. After an hour and a half with the mini van we arrived at the Yao women’s village. The show, to be paid apart from 80 CYN, is very touristy, nothing interesting, apart from the traditional costumes. After another half hour with the mini van we arrived at the place of lunch, where we stayed for an hour. I would have preferred to continue. Fortunately after lunch the tour took a better turn. We went on a little trek through the rice terraces. There were farmers who were picking rice. Pleasant walk and wonderful scenery

Good experience. Gorgeous... - Good experience. Gorgeous landscapes. But… We had to bargain to take the highway. The village is not that interesting and the “hike” is really classical between the two main points of view.

Short trek between rice terraces, relaxing and pleasant - We remained a group of 5 people, pick-up at the hotel on time. The first stop, after an hour and a half by car, was the Yao women’s village. The show is paid for separately (¥80) and not worth it, despite the traditional clothes, it is a sight for tourists. After another half hour by car we stopped for lunch. I would have preferred to continue rather than waste an hour sitting at the table. Fortunately after lunch we arrived at the rice terraces and took a nice walk. They were picking rice and so it was interesting.
