Here, we will encounter 54 distinct species of mammals, including the majestic Howler Monkey, as well as 221 species of birds, 8 species of amphibians, and 12 varieties of reptiles. After exploring the reserve, we will continue our journey to a cocoa farm. Here, we will have the unique opportunity to learn about the cocoa roasting process, carried out in a traditional, open-air manner. This experience will allow us to connect with the traditions of the countryside people and observe the rustic and simple techniques they use to transform cocoa into delicious organic chocolate, from the farm to the table.”

We depart from Guayaquil towards a hidden treasure called Churute, an hour and a half away. Upon arrival, we will connect with the local community. Some of its members are dedicated to fishing for red crab, while others are engaged in agriculture.
Howler Monkey Trail
Next, we will arrive at the howler monkey trail. This protected area of tropical dry forest is home to a diverse variety of exotic species of birds, reptiles, and mammals. Among them, we will frequently observe the presence of howler monkeys in their natural wild state.
Experience at a Cocoa Farm
In the afternoon, we will continue our experience at a cocoa farm. We will learn the entire process of making organic chocolate, from the cocoa fruit to the various uses we will give it to taste several types of chocolate. We will prepare our own chocolate and enjoy a typical lunch prepared outdoors to taste typical Ecuadorian food.
