An unforgettable experience with a loving guide - This was the most wonderful activity during our stay at Lake Atitlan. We had an incredible scenic ride through the village streets, volcanic farms and lakeside hills. We were galloping on the streets and catching our breath at the beauty of the vantage points our guide took us to. The horses were so well-loved and our guide chiko and the horse caretaker Jose were the most wonderful, warm people you could ask for. An unforgettable experience through different terrains and definitely worth the price.

Fantastic start to a San Pedro morning - Amazing experience! Only my 2nd time riding a horse, partner’s 5th and they were perfect.
Knew the drill, followed our guide, and we were able to have great conversation/views and were even galloping by the end.
Only thing that may confuse people is you meet a tuk tuk driver that takes you to the ranch for free, and that’s where the excursion starts. Can easily call the phone number if you can’t locate them near the central park meeting spot.

Riding a horse though the streets was unforgettable.

My wife, five children... - My wife, five children (ages 9-17) and I went on this horseback ride and we loved it! It was for several of us our first time riding. The man leading the tour spoke excellent English. They also took pictures and videos of us and sent them to us. I would recommend this trip to just about anyone.

Absolutely Worth It! Everyone's Favorite! - Normally I don't write reviews. And normally I don't do these kinds of "touristy" activities. But it was the reviews that convinced me, and now I'm here to convince you.
First, the horses: not sure how you feel about them? Me either. But let me tell you, these horses could (and often did) do this tour without the guide or you. They know the drill. They'd stop and go off the trail a bit, and you'd think "Here it is! This is when it I die!" But, no. The horse knows this is the spot with the amazing peak-a-boo view, and just looks back at you like have you taken your pictures yet? So yeah, their demeanor, completely deadpan. Tuktuk just went by going 100kmh, dogs barking, your kid decided to take off their backpack in the middle of the ride, your daughter screams because a bug is on her...? They could care less. So, don't let the idea of horses deter you from this. They are great.
Secondly, the guide Jose, was wonderful. He has been doing this same tour for over 25yrs. I felt 100% comfortable with his experience and abilities at all times. He is very good at matching you up with the right horse (They all have names btw. Mine was Cynthia). And gives great instructions (but you won't need them remember, the horses got it). And he knows all the local geography and history and was just really nice to talk to. He even jumped off his horse to take pictures of us!
Lastly, I normally hate this kind of stuff. It always seems so inauthentic, exploitive, and kitschy. But this wasn't. It was a really, really nice stroll through town on horseback. You didn't have to pay attention to where you were going, because the horse was. Meaning you could just enjoy the murals on the walls, and the people in the doorways, and the rest of life in San Pedro. Then the streets suddenly fade away and you're in the brush and trees along the mountain side. With sweeping views of the lake and the volcanos. And the wildflowers along the trail. I was a little sad when we started heading back. But I loved that part of the ride even more. We took a slightly different route. And trotted down the narrow paths, right past little restaurants, and food cooking. (And the smells made me so hungry!) And then suddenly, you're back where you started!
I loved it. Everyone LOVED it. 10/10 recommend. 100% worth every penny. Would do it again in a heartbeat. If you're thinking about doing it all, DO IT. You won't regret it. And tell Cynthia and Pedro hi 👋
Notes: We chose the "meet-up" option. The email gave a meeting location of the Parque La Puerta Hermosa (which has bathrooms). When the meeting time came, we were picked up by tuktuks that shuttled us to the ranch. We chose the 2pm tour time and took a boat to San Pedro in the morning. This gave us a chance to walk around, eat and go to the beach (with the big crab) and hang out before the tour. And ended with just the right amount of time to dilly-dally our way back to the pier to catch our boat back. We are a family of five. 2 adults and 3 older children. Our family was the only people on the tour. Tips: Wear a brimmed hat, long pants, and a good shoe. Apply sunscreen, and bug spray. Bring water and wet wipes (the trail can get dusty).

Amazing horseback riding experience in San Pedro - We had a great time. Chico and his crew took care of us, and the horses were very well taken care of and trained. We didn’t know anything about horses, but that didn’t matter. Such a great and special day! Strongly recommend.

San Pedro Horse Riding - Such a fun activity in San Pedro. Good to see more of the town and then the views along the trail are amazing. Horses were very well trained and easy to ride with little to no experience. Good value too.

Absolutely Incredible 10/10 - Myself and my girlfriend had 0 horse riding experience. The horses were so well trained and the guide, Jose, was so amazing that we rode for hours through the bustling streets of San Pedro and then through trails in the jungle. Something I thought absolutely not possible with our lack of experience which is a real testament to Jose and the horses (Synthia and Mariposa). Definitely the best thing we’ve done in Guatemala!!

This experience was a... - This experience was a great way to see a large portion of Lake Atitlán without being stuck on a bus or relying on a ferry. The horses come from a family‑owned farm, and it’s clear the family genuinely cares for them. The rising instructor was excellent; however, the person coordinating the ride to the farm was a bit unorganized. We waited about 20 minutes to meet him, only to walk five minutes to another spot and then take a Tuk‑Tuk to the farm, an area that turned out to be within walking distance. The whole wait and confusing pickup situation could have been avoided if we’d simply been given the farm’s address from the start.

Horseback Riding Tour with Stunning Mountain Views - We booked the Horseback Riding Tour in San Pedro La Laguna and overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Pickup was included from the Hotel, which made the start of the day easy. The only negative point of the tour is the use of public boat transportation to cross Lake Atitlán to reach San Pedro La Laguna. The public boat is not included in the tour price (USD $3.00 per person), and you also have to wait until the boat is full of passengers before it departs, which can cause some delays.
Once in San Pedro, the horseback riding experience was excellent. The horse guide took us through the mountains with beautiful views. The horses are very well trained, clearly know their job, and made the ride feel safe at all times. I never felt unsafe during the tour, and the scenery was amazing.
Overall, it’s a great experience, especially if you enjoy nature, mountain views, and a relaxed horseback ride.
