A well informed tour with a charming guide! - My sister and I booked the walking tour and Susana was our charming and well informed guide. She comes from a long lineage of Guanajuatenses and has a love of the town that is in her DNA. She took us down a hillside of centuries old adobe houses on winding lanes, through the famous labyrinth of underground streets, walked us among the stalls in the market, into churches and to the site of one of the first big battles for Mexico’s war of Independence. Along the way she told us many stories about the silver mines, where her father once worked as a mining engineer, and stopped to say hi to the many locals who greeted her with warm hugs. Obviously proud of her town and enthusiastic in her telling of its history, you could not find a better, more simpatica guide. At the end of the tour, she gave us excellent recommendations for where to eat and took us via an underground street, through a back door and down a long hallway opening into a beautiful old colonial hotel founded in 1892 where we had an excellent meal in their outdoor restaurant. A special end to our Guanajuato stay. Professional, friendly, responsive, knowledgeable and patient! We highly recommend her.

Excellent Tour, Super Knowledgable & Friendly Guide - I had a fantastic private tour with Susana! Guanajuato has such an incredible, deep history and played a pivotal role in the history of Mexico's independence. Additionally, the mining history of the city and the engineering know how led to the design of the intricate tunnel system that runs throughout this city. It's such a unique place, and Susana did an excellent job teaching details about Guanajuato that only a native could know. Susana takes genuine pride in the diversity and history of the city, and is a true professional in her role as a tour guide and resource! Susana can lead in both English or Spanish. I'd highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic Walking Tour in a Fascinating City! - Wow! What a fantastic experience! Susana is cheerful, personable, and very knowledgeable! She loves Guanajuato and that makes the tour even better! We learned about history, gastronomy, folklore, and so much more. We highly recommend taking a tour with Susanna early in your stay to help you get your bearings both in a physical sense and in an intellectual sense. We have taken a lot of tours in a lot of cities around the world and this one rates in the Top 5. 😃

The GOAT of Tour guides: Susana and her Cacomixtle team - Review for Susana and her team at Cacomixtle: THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE! She’s incomparable in her knowledge and history of Guanajuato (the city, and the state for that matter!). She was born, raised and educated there - has traveled abroad and brings the highest level of flexibility, enjoyment, and planning organization to all her clients. Fluent in Spanish and English. She paid incredible attention to the group’s wants, needs, and interests - she was “on point!”. And this was a group of “lively”, outspoken, loudly happy Italians (4), Mexican/Chinese (1) and US (1). She took us on an all-day tour of Guanajuato city in a big truck that she drove all over the city mixing different neighborhoods, vistas, mines, historic places, parks, places to hike and bike, and all with a never ending joy and laughter in sharing her home town. CANNOT RECOMMEND HER AND HER TEAM ENOUGH!!! Bottom line: She is the “GOAT” of my long history of traveling tour guides. FYI: We were there from January 14 - 24, 2025. Two of us went to San Miguel and Leon - and for each place, she reserved our places to stay and provided us with a long list of to do’s, places to eat (depending on the food, ambiance, specialty, etc) based on our likes and wants. She catered perfectly for the two of us who are academics who unplugged and were happy to walk all over, learn history, meet interesting local people, and with taste buds for high quality coffee, tequila, mezcal, chocolate, aguas frescas and food from the region.

Highly recommend Susana for a terrific walking tour! - Susana was terrific! She led a group of 14 of us on a really interesting walking tour of her spectacular city. She grew up in Guanajuato City, has deep roots there, and is well informed about the city's rich history. Her home town pride was obvious and infectious. We learned a great deal and had a lot of fun. Susana answered all our questions and let us set the pace according to our preferences. She communicated frequently leading up to the tour date and was flexible to accommodate our specific requests. She was prompt, friendly, and professional. I highly recommend her and hope to use her again soon.
