On this tour, the main sites of interest throughout the captivating region of Cappadocia will be explored: panoramic views, historic buildings, carved churches, villages, and valleys that have witnessed volcanoes, erosion, empires, and battles for centuries. The visit includes remarkable and diverse sites such as the Open Air Museum of Göreme, the town of Cavusin, Pasabag or Monks Valley, the town of Avanos, a former caravanserai, and the Göreme valley from its many viewpoints on the return journey.
Open Air Museum of Göreme: A World Heritage Site, where one can admire not only a stunning landscape but also incredible examples of rock-carved churches with fascinating frescoes inside.
Cavusin: A charming village between Göreme and Avanos. Visitors can explore the impressive church of Saint John the Baptist and the entire ancient site of old Çavuşin, carved into a rock promontory overlooking the village.
Avanos: Known for its traditional pottery and handmade crafts, visitors can tour the workshops of master potters, carved into the rock. A lunch break can be taken here. On the way, a quick stop at Pasabag offers breathtaking views from a small, sandy hill and spectacular fairy chimneys.
Caravanserais: These were old hostelries for travelers and caravans, significant in this region. The tour includes a visit to Sarihan, a thirteenth-century Seljuk caravanserai, where one can witness the whirling dervishes’ spiritual dance, Sema, every night.
