- My fam and I enjoyed this tour alot. Our guide was very informative and friendly. We were given a diffent guide when we walked through the Tower and he was just so-so (his name was Ross). The crown jewels portion of the tour was somewhat interesting, but probably my least favorite part of the entire tour. Also, no pics allowed in the crown jewels tour... which was disappointing to the extent that I did see something that I thought was interesting and couldn't take a pic. This tour is definitely worthwhile if you are interested in touring a historical site that is about 1,000 years old. Lots of history to be discovered here.

Would definitely do it again! - The tower was so busy today that it would have been a mess without the structure of our guide. So I highly recommend going with one. Our guide Warren was AMAZING! Knowledge and friendly. He was very accommodating when I messed up my tickets. He had us at just the right spot at the right time….for example: we saw the changing of the guards at the perfect time, we made it to the jewels before the line was insanely long, he got us up front and personal with the beefeater and happily took pictures for us. The site is bigger than you think so having a guide add structure to your visit is so helpful, otherwise it would be so overwhelming.

Great Tour and tour guide! - John was an amazing tour guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and witty. My whole family loved it! We were able to walk around a bit after the tour which was really nice.

Tower tour - It was one of the best tours I have taken our guide was so much fun a knowledgeable, it seemed that he really liked and enjoyed being there interacted with everyone saw and learned a lot

Excellent tour. One of the best. - Excellent tour. Maybe one of the best my wife and I have ever been on. Our guide Sue was very knowledgeable and the personal meeting with the Beefeater was very informative. The Tower is very impressive and I would recommend this tour on your visit to London.

Great tower of London tour. - Starts early to avoid the crowds. Your finishing up when it is getting busy. Guide was very knowledgeable and spent a good deal of time explaining things and recommended other things to enjow when the tour time was ove.r. Would highly recommend.

Just a three-hour lecture you can barely hear while paired with a guide who isn’t allowed to actually go anywhere. BAD. - First, I think people should understand this tour is NOT AFFILIATED with the actual Tower of London. It’s just a private company who provides a “guide.” Because of the limitations of the guide I think it really lessened our experience.
I want to start by saying our tour guide was lovely and knowledgeable but SO SOFT SPOKEN. Our group was about 20 people and the Tower of London was very crowded and noisy. So I would say even with standing as close to her as I possibly could and straining, I only was able to hear about 40 percent of what she was saying. This, compounded with seeing so many other tours where the guide spoke into a mic and the guests each had an earpiece so no one missed anything regardless of how close they were standing to the guide, really upset me.
Additionally, the guides cannot actually go into any specific areas of the Tower, they can only be in the central square. So instead of exploring the Tower and getting information as we were seeing the various spaces, we stood and got a three-hour lecture, after which we were told we could explore on our own. Well, after standing still for three hours (as opposed to continually moving, which is easier on the body) we were all too exhausted to actually go into any of the spaces we had just heard about. What a disappointment.
As someone who has been to the Tower of London as a poor backpacker years ago, in my opinion you’re better off going without buying a tour from a private company. Just buy an entry ticket and if you want take an audio tour that is provided by the actual Tower of London. It’s cheaper and you will see and learn more.
Finally, don’t be fooled by the headline. Anyone with an entry ticket can speak to the Beefeaters and see the Crown Jewels. All that buying this “VIP experience” did was prevent us from SEEING the Tower of London and even if the guides did have additional information and knowledge to relay, you can’t hear it.
Literally don’t choose this tour. There’s no unless. Just don’t do it. I can only assume it got a high rating because everyone else hadn’t been before and didn’t know what they were missing.
