Obi's Brixton insider food tour was great! - Obi (the tour guide) really made this tour with his blend of historical knowledge from a resident's perspective, warmth and providing ample food along the way. Brixton Village is not a huge market, but Obi's tour allowed a depth that I don't think would have been possible from just anyone. Specifically on the food, I thought the beef patty and the jolof rice stole the show. I've had lots of Jamaican beef patties - which is more like a flaky, ground beef filled pastry, not something on a hamburger bun. But these had flavor I sometimes don't see. The jolof rice had the right spice level to me (a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 on the heat) and a depth of flavor from the spices they would not reveal that I'd have gone back for a few more times. The tour has a fair amount of standing in front of stalls and shops, which is common, but worth knowing if you have any mobility concerns. One other thing I always like a about good food tour hosts is when they repeat people's names a lot and encourage conversation. I always meet interesting people who share a love of good food and food experiences. This was no exception. Take the short tube ride south to Brixton and give this a go, I found the tour well worth it!

Fantastic food, fantastic experience - I am traveling with good friends. I booked this tour with Obi and it was better than anticipated. We met up with a couple from The Netherlands and a German family. Everyone was excited to be on the tour. Obi learned our individual names and included us in each of his stories for a personalized touch. He is a fantastic storyteller. He gave us a history lesson on the Brixton area of London. He talked about his deep personal history with the area. He talked about Brixton’s influence on music. He did this all while introducing and having us eat fantastic foods! We had food from The Diaspora of black culture. I recommend coming hungry on this tour because we were stuffed full like Christmas turkeys by the end of the tour! We ate every last bit. Even the 10 year old picky eater wolfed everything down! My friends and I think this tour was the highlight of our London vacation.

Book this tour - This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to London! I had asked for vegetarian options, and Obi was very accommodating. We tasted a wide variety of delicious foods, and I never felt like I was missing out. (The veggie patty, in particular, was incredible! I'd had patties before, but never like this.) Aside from the food, Obi himself was so engaging and friendly and has a real gift for teaching and storytelling. He told us about the history of Brixton with humor, nuance, and lots of details about his own family's personal connection to the community. We've been on lots of food tours before, but this one was really special. If you're looking to book and/or browse other offerings directly, I believe you can do that at thisisgorgeous.com.

Must do tour when visiting London! - I had the best time on this tour. Obi is a fantastic guide, he was so friendly and incredibly informative - he brought the history and culture of the area to life in such an engaging way. The pace of the tour was perfect, with just the right balance between walking, learning, and, of course, eating! We got to try such a great variety of food and the sit-down meal at the end was absolutely fantastic. Rice and peas, oxtail, callaloo… you name it, we had it, and it was all delicious. There were eight of us on the tour and everyone was lovely - it felt like spending the afternoon with friends. I learnt so much and would 100% recommend this tour, whether you’re visiting London or have lived here your whole life. Such a lovely experience!

Must-Do Food Tour When Visiting London - I’ve visited London more than a dozen times and this is undoubtedly one of the best tours I’ve taken. Obi was a fantastic host — insightful, engaging and funny. He grew up in Brixton, so his love and knowledge of the area, people and history is apparent. Everything we ate was delicious, and I loved that we weren’t just eating. We were learning — about the neighborhood, the market, and how people who came to London with nothing created this thriving, vibrant community. You absolutely must put this tour on your itinerary when you visit London.

Highlight - It was an pleasure for us to met Obi. If you are interested in the history of Brixton people, their struggles and (of course) their kitchen, then be a part of a group of strangers, which will get to know each other because of Obis kindness.

More Than a Tour — A Celebration of Brixton & Obi Brings Brixton to Life! - One of the absolute highlights of our trip! If you’re considering this tour — do it. I’d been curious about the history and flavors of Brixton for a while, but it felt important to find a guide who’s actually from the area, someone who could speak to its evolution — the good, the complicated, and everything in between — and ensure our money was supporting local people. Obi was everything we hoped for and more: incredibly knowledgeable, warm, funny, and so patient with all our questions. I was especially impressed by his attention to detail and how thoughtfully he personalized the experience. It can be hard to find tours that feel truly authentic — ones that don’t treat communities like exhibits, but instead center local voices as the historians, storytellers, and culture bearers they are. Obi’s tour did exactly that. It celebrated what makes Brixton so special, while offering important context with care and clarity. Honestly? I want to take the tour again next time I’m in London! That’s how good it was.
