- Giza Necropolis - Explore the Giza Pyramid complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, in Egypt. This site is home to the Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated complexes and the Great Sphinx. Constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt, between 2600 and 2500 BC, the area also features several temples, cemeteries, and remnants of a workers’ village.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The pyramid complex of Khufu includes a valley temple, currently buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Although diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, the site remains unexcavated.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre, some of which were discovered in a well on the temple floor by Mariette in 1860.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple originally housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple.
- Great Sphinx - The Sphinx dates back to the reign of King Khafre. In the New Kingdom, Amenhotep II dedicated a new temple to Hauron-Haremakhet, which was later expanded by subsequent rulers.
- Gizeh Plateau - The Giza Plateau is a limestone plateau in Giza, Egypt, hosting the Fourth Dynasty Giza pyramid complex, which includes the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers’ village, and an industrial complex. It is the northernmost part of the 16,000 ha Pyramid Fields on the Western Desert edge of the Nile Valley, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Memphis and its Necropolis. The plateau is approximately 60 meters above sea level.
