The Giza pyramid complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, is located on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. These structures were all built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also features several cemeteries and the remains of a workers’ village.
The complex is situated at the edge of the Western Desert, about 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in Giza, and roughly 13 km (8 mi) southwest of downtown Cairo.

It is the northernmost part of the 16,000 ha Pyramid Fields on the edge of the Western Desert near the Nile Valley, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Memphis and its Necropolis.
The plateau is elevated approximately 60 meters above sea level.
