- Giza Necropolis - Begin the tour with a pickup from your hotel in Cairo or Giza by a knowledgeable tour guide. The Giza pyramid complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, is located on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It features the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the iconic Great Sphinx of Giza. These structures were constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also includes several cemeteries and the remnants of a workers’ village.
The location is on the outskirts of the Western Desert, approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in Giza, and about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of Cairo’s city center.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, currently buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, but the site remains unexcavated.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple has yielded several statues of Khafre, some of which were discovered in a well in the temple’s floor by Mariette in 1860.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex comprises a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple.
- Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx is situated on the east side of the complex. The prevailing view among Egyptologists is that the head of the Great Sphinx represents Khafre. In addition to these major monuments, there are several smaller satellite structures, known as “queens” pyramids, causeways, and valley pyramids.
- The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, commonly referred to as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, is located in Cairo, Egypt, and houses an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. It contains 120,000 items, with a portion on display and the rest in storage. Constructed in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani, based on a design by French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the building is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2020, it is set to be replaced by the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza.
- Khan Al-Khalili - Conclude the tour with a visit to the Khan El Khalili Bazaar. The numerous shops in this area are renowned for offering exquisite brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, antiques, and much more.
The tour concludes with a drop-off at the customer’s hotel in Cairo or Giza.
