- Pyramids of Giza - Begin your journey from the designated location with a GEM Explore Egyptologist, traveling across Cairo to the magnificent Pyramids of Giza. Here, you will marvel at the pyramids of King Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. The tour continues with a visit to the Valley Temple of Khafre, where the royal body of Khafre was received. This temple was constructed for King Khafre’s mummification process. Finally, enjoy a close-up view of the Great Sphinx, the majestic guardian of the Pyramids, featuring a lion’s body and King Khafre’s head. (Please note that entering the pyramids requires a special ticket, and the guide will gladly assist.)
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid is the only surviving wonder of the ancient seven wonders, standing tall today! It was the tallest building on earth for over 3800 years. The complex includes a valley temple, now beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman; diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, though the site remains unexcavated. With your expert Egyptologist, you can explore the entire area.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - The second tallest pyramid in the complex is dedicated to King Chefren or Khafre. The entire complex is well-preserved, allowing you to explore the valley temple and the causeway of King Khafre with your Egyptologist. (Please note that entering the pyramids requires a special ticket. The guide will be happy to assist.)
- Menkaure Pyramid - The smallest pyramid on the Giza plateau, now approximately 61m high, is unique due to its granite outer layer still visible on the lower part. The granite was quarried from Aswan, over 1000 kilometers from Giza!
- Panoramic view of the Pyramids - Next, visit a panoramic viewpoint of the six pyramids and the city of Giza, where you will spend 30 minutes taking photos and enjoying the view. It’s a fantastic place to ride camels.
- Great Sphinx - With the same entry ticket to the pyramids area, you can have a close-up view of the Great Sphinx, the guardian of the Pyramids, with a lion’s body and King Khafre’s head. You will have ample time to take photos with assistance from your guide.
- Saqqara - Later, embark on an incredible tour in Saqqara to see the oldest pyramid ever built and the surrounding tombs. There is a possibility to enter some pyramids for free. Entering the Saqqara pyramid and the new Southern tomb of King Zoser requires an extra ticket.
- Step Pyramid of Djoser - The step pyramid of King Djoser, dating back to 2670 BC, is the oldest stone structure in the world. The pyramid is part of a vast complex (Colonnaded Entrance, Sed Festival complex, Enclosure wall, North and South Pavilions, Southern Tomb, and thousands of surrounding tombs). With your knowledgeable tour guide, you will learn much more about King Djoser, his talented architect Imhotep, and the new discoveries in Saqqara. (Please note that entering the pyramid or the southern tomb requires a special ticket. The guide will be happy to assist.)
- Pyramids of Dahshour - After lunch, embark on another journey through the Giza villages to the Dahshur Pyramids (Red and Bent Pyramids). These were significant steps and learning experiences for the Ancient Egyptians in transitioning from step-sided to smooth-sided pyramids. Dahshur features multiple pyramids, but the most renowned are the Red and Bent Pyramids, among the oldest, largest, and best-preserved in Egypt, built from 2613–2589 BC.
- Red Pyramid - Also known as the North Pyramid, it is considered the first classic pyramid built in ancient Egyptian history. It is called “red” due to its reddish limestone, quarried from the Tura Mountains in Cairo. There is a possibility to enter the pyramid for free!
- Bent Pyramid - A unique example of early pyramid development in Egypt, this was the second pyramid built by Sneferu. It is the only pyramid in Egypt that still has its outer layer intact and is in good condition. You will have the opportunity to enter this pyramid as well, as it is now open inside. (Please refrain from entering if you are claustrophobic or have any health issues, as this one is quite challenging and requires fitness.)
