Amazing! - Tony, our guide, was extremely helpful from beginning to end. Communication before the tour was excellent and Tony changed the meeting point as our taxi dropped us at the wrong entrance. Tony was very informative and shared his knowledge of the historical periods in Egypt clearly. The pyramid site was fab, and we enhanced our trip (an extra E£1000 each) with a horse and carriage trip to the far side of the pyramids for some amazing pictures. All in all a great morning... starting at 9:00 am was a good idea to before it became too busy.

Pyramids are a true wonder! - We had door to door service which helped take the stress away of having to book a taxi, a bit of a mission if you have no WiFi. Tour guide was a true historian and knew his stuff, lots of fun facts provided which added to the overall experience. Could have spent more time walking around as lots to see but it was fine. Didn't know the inclusive price didn't include a tour around all 9 pyramids so had to pay extra for that! Plus all the tips!! In hindsight, we could have done a DIY job and saved a few pounds.

Aggressive upselling and forced shopping visits added to itinerary - I booked this tour due to the simple itinerary, wanting to visit the pyramids and sphinx and learn about their history. Unfortunately, two compulsory factory visits were added to the tour itinerary. Despite requesting that we skip these as they were not advertised, I was forced to attend the first as my bag was still on the tour bus and I was not allowed to retrieve it until after the visit. This first visit consisted of a 25-minute-long sales pitch on essential oils. I managed to escape before the second, but had to organise my own transport back to the hotel, as transport would only be provided after completing the second of the two unadvertised visits. Our tour guide was also quite aggressive on upselling the $40 camel rides, despite none of our group wanting to participate. As part of her pitch, she falsely told us that a particular viewpoint was only available via camel ride. We missed out on this as she was unwilling to let us walk there. This would have been mitigated had we learned some interesting history from our guide, but she gave a very confusing and garbled history interwoven with conspiracy theory, such as the Dendera Zodiac being under lock and key at the Louvre as it would change our conception of astrology and chronology. This obvious untruth made it hard to discern the fact from the fiction from the rest of her explanation. When I asked how they might have raised the blocks when building the pyramids, I was told "no-one knows – that's why it's the mystery of the pyramids". Granted, no-one knows for sure, but a quick google shows there are a few plausible theories that she did not bother to share. Overall, it felt like the tour was very focused on extracting money, with minimal time devoted to exploring and learning about the history and the sphinx. I would recommend either spending more on a higher-quality tour or doing a self-guided tour via the frequent shuttle buses – the touts aren't too aggressive on-site and that way you can spend as long as you want on exploring the pyramids up close without being forced to listen to a sales pitch or be upsold by your guide.
