The original entrance is on the north side, 17 meters (56 ft.) above ground and 7.29 meters (23.9 ft.) east of the pyramid’s centerline. From this entrance, a Descending Passage, 0.96 meters (3.1 ft.) high and 1.04 meters (3.4 ft.) wide, descends at a 26° 31’23” angle through the pyramid’s masonry and into the bedrock. After 105.23 meters (345.2 ft.), the passage levels out and continues for another 8.84 meters (29.0 ft.) to the unfinished lower Chamber. A horizontal passage continues in the south wall of the lower chamber, and a pit is dug in the chamber’s floor.

• Mastaba of Mereruka - The mastaba of Mereruka is the largest and most elaborate of all non-royal tombs in Saqqara, featuring 33 rooms or chambers. Mereruka served as the vizier to King Teti, the first pharaoh of the 6th dynasty Old Kingdom period of Egypt.
• Pyramids of Dahshour - The Dahshur pyramids were crucial for the Egyptians, providing the knowledge to transition from steep-sided to smooth-sided pyramids.
