Secondly, Pyramids of Giza: Witness the breathtaking majesty of the Pyramids of Giza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Marvel at the Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu), the largest of the three pyramids, and explore the mysteries of Khafre’s Pyramid and the Menkaure Pyramid. Behold the enigmatic Great Sphinx, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, guarding the ancient necropolis with its enigmatic gaze. (Entering the pyramids from inside requires an extra ticket).
  • Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the most famous and impressive ancient structures in the world. It is located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo, Egypt and is believed to have been constructed as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu, who ruled during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom period of ancient Egypt. The pyramid was built using an estimated 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing between 2 and 80 tons, and is estimated to have taken around 20 years to complete. It originally stood at a height of 146 meters (481 feet), although erosion and the removal of its outer casing stones have reduced its height to around 138 meters (453 feet) today. The pyramid’s internal structure is just as impressive as its exterior. It contains three main chambers: the King’s Chamber, the Queen’s Chamber, and the Subterranean Chamber. The King’s Chamber, located in the heart of the pyramid, contains an empty sarcophagus and is thought to have been the final resting place of Khufu’s mummified body.
  • Khafre’s Pyramid - The Pyramid of Khafre is the second-largest of the three pyramids at the Giza Necropolis in Egypt, and it was built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom period, around 2500 BC. It is located just to the south-west of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest of the three pyramids. The Pyramid of Khafre was originally 143.5 meters (471 feet) tall, with a base of approximately 215 meters (705 feet) on each side. Today, the pyramid stands at a height of 136 meters (446 feet). It was built using similar construction techniques as the Great Pyramid of Khufu, with large limestone blocks weighing up to 10 tons each. The interior of the pyramid consists of a descending corridor that leads to an antechamber, a burial chamber, and a subterranean chamber. Unlike the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre still retains some of its original casing stones at the top of the pyramid, which give it a distinctive appearance.
  • Menkaure Pyramid - Pass by The Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three main pyramids at Giza. It was built for Pharaoh Menkaure during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. It stands approximately 65 meters tall with a base measuring 102 meters on each side. The pyramid was originally covered in smooth Tura limestone, but much of it has been removed over time. Inside, there are three chambers designed to hold the Pharaoh’s sarcophagus and funerary equipment. The pyramid was built with granite blocks at its base, which is unique. The complex includes smaller pyramids for Menkaure’s queens, a mortuary temple, a causeway, and a valley temple. Visitors can explore the exterior of the pyramid and the complex as part of a guided tour of the Giza Plateau.
  • Great Sphinx - One of the most famous features of the Pyramid of Khafre is the Sphinx, a large limestone statue of a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. The Sphinx is located just to the east of the pyramid and is thought to have been built during the reign of Khafre.

We enjoyed everything - This was a whistle-stop tour through Cairo’s must-see attractions. Our guide, Nadia, is a highly qualified Egyptologist and has been working in the industry for many years. She was generous in sharing her knowledge and perspective with the group and made us feel safe when negotiating our way through Cairo. The food at the restaurant was tasty and plentiful, the air conditioned vehicle was a welcome respite from the heat, and we were kept well-hydrated with several pit stops to buy cold water. Some highlights included the camel ride, seeing Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx, and the stop at the papyrus shop. We will definitely be going back to the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Saqqara and Memphis. If you have limited time in Cairo, I would definitely recommend this tour. (Hot tip - if you’re traveling in the summer, wait until you get to the sites to buy the add-ons, as you might get low-season discounts)

The best in Egypt, all pyramids in one day - It was amazing!!! Private tour, our guide Samaa was so sweet, caring and gave us all the attention and details we needed, She explained to us the history of the pyramids of Giza and Saqqara. The statue of Ramses in Memphis is similar to the one in the Grand Egyptian Museum. The driver was really careful and the car comfortable. The food was really good and the whole experience amazing. Loved it and totally recommended. And she also takes wonderful pictures.

The trip was excellent - The trip was excellent. It really captured the essence of Egypt, tour guide JOE, our guide, really showed his 18 years of experience and made this trip memorable for us. He was able to convey his knowledge of history and humour in conversation to keep us engaged. He helped us find some great essences to take back home, and made the whole experience joyful and easy. We were very tired at the end of the trip, but never felt the exhaustion while we were with JOE. His photography skills are good as well, so he was able to capture many screenshots of our great memories. I would recommend him to everyone I know.

A must do tour, phenomenal experience - Ahmed was an ideal guide. He was impressively well educated and knowledgeable and took care to explain what we were seeing. He was friendly and when we asked to see a particular type of factory, he managed to arrange it. We really enjoyed the tour and his insights. The driver was always meeting us exactly at the right time; we never had to wait or walk particularly far. I would thoroughly recommend doing this tour with Travels Of Egypt (the company subcontracted). The sights we saw are of course a must for anyone visiting Cairo. This was my second time here and it was far better seeing things wirh a guide than without.

The trip was great! - Rawan is an amazing tourgide, knowledgeable, passionate and very kind. Our group really enjoyed the tour with her, I can highly recommend her tour. Our tour was a bit longer than expected due to some misunderstanding of a tour participant (ordering food at the last stop, when we were about to leave). So my recommendation to her, please dont hesitate to remind the group if the time for the tour is coming to the end, just be assertive. ❤️ The guests from Europe/US won't think it is rude, with so many things to see and do in a day we might forget about the time, and will respect your reminder. Take care and wishing you all the best! 😊
