Upon arrival, there will be three hours to marvel at the unforgettable sights of the Sphinx and the three largest and most renowned pyramids in Egypt, constructed for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Afterward, guests will be returned to their hotel.
Day 2: Visit to the Egyptian Museum, Cairo Citadel, and Khan el-Khalili Market
Cairo Citadel - The first stop will be the Cairo Citadel, a vast medieval fortress and the most famous non-ancient monument in the city. Inside, visitors will explore the beautifully adorned Mohamed Ali Mosque, known as the Alabaster Mosque due to its soft white stone construction.
Egyptian Museum - Approximately two hours will be spent at the Egyptian Museum, the most significant museum in the country and possibly the world. It houses masterpieces from the ancient era, including the legendary treasures of Tutankhamun. While most of Tutankhamun’s artifacts are in the Giza Museum, this museum showcases over 200 pieces, including the golden funerary mask.
Khan el-Khalili Bazaar - After leaving the fortress, the tour will proceed to the Khan el-Khalili market, Cairo’s most famous market, with its maze-like streets resembling an open-air museum. Khan el-Khalili is the ideal place to purchase souvenirs and replicas of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
Day 3: Visit to Alexandria
Fort Qaitbey - The tour of Alexandria’s port begins with a visit to the Qaitbey Citadel. This defensive structure was built in the 15th century by Sultan Qaitbey on the site where the renowned Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood. The lighthouse was destroyed by earthquakes, and its remnants were used to construct the citadel.
Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - Next, the tour heads south to the Kom el Shoqafa Catacombs, where the relief artwork illustrates the blend of Egyptian and Greco-Roman cultures. Visitors will explore its three levels, discovering passages, tunnels, and galleries where the necropolis tombs are located. Nearby, Pompey’s Pillar stands where the temple dedicated to the Greco-Egyptian God Serapis once existed.
Bibliotheca Alexandrina - Lunch will be enjoyed in central Alexandria, featuring a menu of fish and seafood rice. In the evening, the tour will visit one of the city’s most significant modern buildings: The New Alexandria Library. This structure, built as a tribute to the ancient library from the 3rd century BC, was destroyed, possibly during the Roman Civil War in 48 BC. The new library, reinaugurated in 2002, houses thousands of papyrus scrolls and was a global center of scholarship and knowledge in ancient times. Today, it is one of the Eastern Mediterranean’s most important cultural venues. Finally, guests will return to their hotels in Cairo late in the evening.
