Walking Tour of Girona with Game of Thrones highlights - For those who are enthusiasts of the Game of Thrones series, this walking tour is the perfect way to see sights in Girona where filming took place! We rode the 8:15am Renfre train from Barcelona to Girona, on our own - a quick 40 minute ride. On arrival in Girona around 9am, we walked to the old town area to meet our tour guide - took us about 20 minutes. You can also take the L2 city bus (1.40 Euro) to a stop close to the old town - cash or credit card to pay inside the bus. As we had about an hour until our 10:30am tour, we enjoyed coffee at one of the cafes located by the meet area. The tour lasted about three hours and found us walking MANY steps and inclines. Our guide would show a scene from the movie so we could understand what cinematic changes were made to the actual filming area. Such a beautiful and historic area. My husband is the GOT watcher - I have only occasionally paid attention to an episode and truly do not know what the series is all about; however did appreciate seeing the historic areas used for the filming. Be prepared for all of the walking - we are in our 70's and while we were tired, this is an experience we were glad to have done. Following the walking tour, the guide will recommend restaurants and shops to visit in the old town. Again, you can walk or ride the city bus back to the Renfre station to return to Barcelona. We had scheduled a return Renfre at 1720 (not knowing how long we would want to stay in Girona), however changed to a 1511 departure. Be certain to have water with you while on this walking tour, especially if doing the tour in warmer weather. There is one opportunity during the tour for a washroom. There are areas during the tour where you can sit on a ledge while the guide is talking; otherwise it is mostly standing the entire three hours.

Great experience, great guide. - Small group so we all interacted with each other. Guide (Michael/Miguel) was great and very personable. I had so much fun on this tour and geeked out!

Terrific tour that dove deep into "Game of Thrones" production as well as local history - Jordi our tour guide spoke excellent English and shared with our small group details of local history and architecture and a few current details about things and also showed us several sites used in the making of "Game of Thrones," with full details about the storylines, behind-the-scenes production and even clips and images from the episodes in question. Very informative and illuminating. He also took time to answer questions and even did real-time research if he did not know the answers.

His English is flawless, making everything easy to follow, and you can genuinely feel the passion he has for his city and Game of Thrones. As someone who was actually part of the filming as an extra, he adds an incredible layer of insight to the tour, even taking you to the exact spots where iconic scenes were filmed. Mike is funny, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the entire experience both entertaining and informative.
