Most of these dishes are available at roadside stalls or pushcarts, commonly referred to as “street food” or “hawker food.” The offerings include a blend of traditional Malay, Chinese, and Indian dishes, along with fusion cuisines like Baba Nyonya, or Peranakan, which combines regional ingredients with Chinese, Malay, and Thai cooking techniques. This culinary variety is popular with both locals and tourists. All of Penang’s street foods can be found in hawker centers and shop houses throughout George Town.
