Nice time - even with a toddler - It was a very thought through tour through central George Town. Good mix of street food and small local restaurants. Guide was very nice. We went there with a 2.5-year old who could keep up and tried and liked a lot of the food. Tempo is very relaxed.

Variety, safety, new flavors, value - We had an amazing time with Sandy! She is an extremely knowledgeable local who definitely got us our money’s worth on this trip. I loved how knowledgeable she was about food and Pinang’s history. This tour will have you trying things you certainly (if you’re a scared western tourist like me) would not have tried on your own, but Sandy is very mindful about where she brings you and safety. We came to try new and interesting foods and we certainly did! Sandy was an amazing and kind guide and we would do it with her again if we come back!

Excellent Food Tour and Guide - 15 Tastings! - Grace is AMAZING! Our Good Morning Penang tour was a highlight of our trip. We did 15 tastings (all incredible!) and learned the stories behind every dish. Grace’s energy and knowledge made it feel like exploring with a friend who knows all the hidden gems. She’s also an amazing photographer—she captured beautiful candid shots we’ll treasure forever. If you want to experience the best of Penang’s food scene and come home with great photos, book this tour with Grace. 10/10!

Amazing Penang food tour for a solo American traveller - Ken was an amazing tour guide. Not only were we well-fed but also well-informed and taken care of. Stopping to get fresh cold water along the way as one example of his care as our host. I was a solo traveler, American, and I met fun people on the tour and had an amazing experience. Ken sent the list of places and foods we tried after the tour to help our memory and so we could return or recommend these restaurants/eateries to others.

If there is only one tour you do in Penang, this is it! - My wife and I did the morning tour. This is important to know as the afternoon tours go to different stalls/cafes etc. The morning tour concentrates on breakfast type dining. The way these tours go is that you meet at a cafe/stall with your fellow tourists and the tour guide. You then walk from one selected cafe/stall to the other. At each of these locations, you get to try a type of dish that is the signature of that location. The tour groups are small. There were only 5 of us on ours so that was great as you could interact with the tour guide more frequently. We started at a cafe where we had prawn noodles. Absolutely stunning. The great thing is that most of the locations selected are very highly rated, many of them had Michelin Gourmet Bib ratings for their food. The first cafe was one of these. After a decent amount of time to eat, we walked on to the next location. The locations were generally between 300 - 500 metres apart, so no problems there. Whilst walking, the guide will describe the local area, the food and anything else you may wish to know about what you are seeing. The guide we had was first class and very knowledgeable about the local dining scene. After the first location, we visited another 14 locations/tastings. Some of the other items we tried were Laksa, flat rice noodles, dim sum (Absolutely stunning), local drinks like tea, coffee or nutmeg juice. We sampled items from market stalls such as pickled nutmeg. Another highlight was visiting a Chinese bakery that did the most amazing coconut tarts. I have never eaten such crispy pastry ever! A few other items we tried were the local spring rolls and ginger soup (You have to try this one as it actually has a twist to it. The tour ended with a chendol, which is an iced dessert. One is lychee flavoured and the other the more traditional chendol. No matter which one you pick, you will not be disappointed. After the 15 items, you will be comfortably full and, more than likely, you won' need to eat lunch as well! The great thing about this tour, is not only did you have the tour guide's local knowledge to advise and inform you, but by walking from location, you were moving along the streets and in an out of shops and markets. You will really get a feel from the place, which you would not if you were being driven in a tour bus. The tour guide was excellent as was the food. I definitely recomment this tour and would do the night one the next time I am in Penang. Book yourself this one, you won't be disappointed.

Good, but with some negatives - After booking the tour some months ago, we cancelled it. A couple of days ago, we had an email saying viator had withdrawn the money from our account. My wife had done the booking, and they said she had booked, then cancelled, the booked again. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, as we were in two minds about it. Anyway, when we got that email, we tried to cancel again. That was 2 days before, and even though their policy states if you cancel at least 24 hours before you get a full refund they refused to do so. That kind of dpoiltbit a bit, but we went anyway. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable about Chinese food and history. One reason we are here is because it is a real melting pot of cultures and cuisine but we only got Chinese food. Apart from those things, it was an enjoyable experience.
